Tulane Honors Housing

Hi, D has been accepted with invitation to Honors, class of 2023. Re: Wall Residence Hall, I saw in another thread that Honors enrollment for the class of 2022 was so high that single/double rooms in Wall were converted to double/triple. Does anyone know if this will be the case for the class of 2023? The 360 Room Tour on the housing site looks reaaalllly tight. Not sure how my D will fare in such living conditions, if she decides to enroll.

My D is currently in a converted single (to double) in Wall. It’s tight but not unlivable. She loves the Wall community and finds it to be a nice balance of quiet enough to study and sleep but social enough to not be boring. She says that kids don’t spend a ton of time in their rooms anyway as there are so many other places to study and socialize.

With regard to next year’s class, that will really depend on how successful Tulane is at controlling over-enrollment and how many Honors offers they extend and are accepted. Remains to be seen whether they take a slightly different approach to be more precise in their acceptance numbers while facing rising yield.

@pishicaca, thank you. Did you go to Honors Weekend last year?

@Labmama Yes we did. It was that visit that sealed the deal for her.

@Labmama, I think that may be my post you refer to and actually my D said it hasn’t been bad at all. Even six girls sharing one bathroom has been doable. Of course it helps that she really gets along with her roommates/suitemates. I do wonder how they will have any room for spring scholar students (students admitted starting this semester).

@pishicaca How did they set up room? My daughter has just been assigned single converted to double in Wall.

@mannino5 They originally bunked the beds but by fall break had unbunked them, raised the beds as high off of the floor as they will go and used the under bed area as storage, using plastic drawer units. They preferred that set up to having the bunks, but YMMV.

@FrothyShake sometimes non honors kids also get roomed in Wall so unless they protect overall enrollment it may still be an issue. My son was in both honors dorms and we all agree it was one of the best perks of the honors program.
