Tulane, Miami, Fordham

Hi I applied to Tulane, Miami, and Fordham University and I wanted to know what my chances were. I have a 3.6 GPA right now with 15 credits completed and by the end of this semester I will have 27 completed. My H.S. GPA was a 3.025 (not very good) and a fairly low SAT score 1230 (did terrible in the math part).

For Tulane they are asking for a letter of recommendation and I sent in 2 from different Profs.

For Miami they are waiting for my SAT scores.

For Fordham they are waiting until I finish this semester and my SAT scores.

The only reason why I haven’t sent in my SAT scores is because I'm scared they are going to deny me, due to the fact that they are so low. I already was accepted to University of Maryland -College Park- (not going, only gave me 5,000), Loyola University of New Orleans (might go), and Pace University (might go). I'm a business major, if that matters.

The thing that gets me stressed is that I have to reply to the schools that accepted me before May 1st and none of the schools listed above gave me an admission decision. Do you think I should just go to the ones that accepted me or wait for a response from the 3 schools listed above? Also, what are my chances in Tulane, Miami, and Fordham.

Loyola gave me a very good scholarship and in order to get the scholarship I have to respond by May 1st.

Can anyone help?

I took the SAT while in college (this January), so would they still want to see them?

::bump::::bump::

If Miami wants to see your SAT scores, you are not going to get a decision from them until they see your scores. Why have you not sent them? Send them ASAP! Both Tulane and Miami are rolling admissions for transfer students; Tulane takes 4-6 weeks for a decision. You can call both schools and speak to someone in admissions to find out where your application is in the process.

If you want to attend one of these other schools over Loyola but are afraid you will lose your spot at Loyolaor Pace, then you need to send in your deposit to one of the schools and wait for the others to reply. Is the deposit at Loyola or Pace refundable by a certain date? If so, you have nothing to lose!

I don't think it's unethical to send in your deposit to the school you like best and then change your mind if you get in to one of the others.

Tulane will take anybody because they're retention rate is so low. Anybody!

Is this a guess, or do you know people with sub-par stats that have gotten in?

I used to go to Tulane and transferred out. When transferring, my advisor mentioned how Tulane takes basically anybody with a 2.6 or higher. So obviously not "anybody," but you get the idea :)

Agree with pokey and hedge that you can go ahead and send in a deposit (hopefully refundable) and then change to your higher preference school if accepted.

You can also try asking for more time at Loyola and Pace. DS successfully asked for more time at one school. You can say that you want to visit and can't do so until after May 1 yada-yada, if you like.

You could also contact Tulane, Miami or Fordham and say that you have other acceptances in hand and wonder if you couldn't get an answer by May 1.

I think you have a good chance at all three, btw, for what it's worth. I also think all three might want you enough that they would try to give you a pre-May 1 answer if you ask. Just one opinion.
