Tulane personal app?

Did anoyone else do the Tulane personal app? I submitted the free personal app that Tulane sent me about a month ago and i just check the status today and it said my application was complete, but it didn't give me a date for which i can expect the decision. has anyone else done the personal app and recieved a decision? how long does it take? when is the usual time period they send out decisions for personal apps?

They’re just starting to go through RD applications.

Email your admissions counselor, and if he/she is nice, they will bump yours to the top of the pile.

I emailed asking about it, was told I was pulled to the top of the pile, and had an acceptance the next day.

Thanks
is the personal app processed the same time as the RD apps? i thought that they were done earlier because it said you get a faster decision using the personal app?

Normally you would get a faster decision, but it is later in the process now so they are pretty buried with tens of thousands of RD apps. Still, you should hear well before the April 1 traditional date unless you are a borderline admit.

Very frustrated with Tulane! My daughter applied in early October via the Personal Application with promises of “quick decision” and “scholarship consideration”. No update on Gibson system until today, which now says April. From a customer service standpoint, Tulane is a huge disappointment when compared to the other schools she has applied to (and been accepted by).

Sorry to hear that, swohiomom. Unfortunately, with 44,000 applications this year (projected), there are always a few that get gummed up. I have found that usually when this happens it turned out they accidentally created two files (for example, one with middle name and one with middle initial or something like that). Not say that is what happened here, but probably that or something similar.

A telephone inquiry may indeed speed things up.

Thank you for the insight, Fallenchemist. Overwhelming number of applications! It’s understandable that no review process could work perfectly with that many applicants.

I think that the “two applications” suggestion is probably right. My daughter applied using the application on the TU website, but continued to receive emails stating to “submit your personal application”. At first she was a bit concerned because not only had she already submittd an application, but she had already been accepted. We called and were told that indeed there were two separate files that had been set up by mistake. No biggie.

My S, was admitted off of the personal application. We had heard nothing for weeks. A call to the admissions counsellor determined that they had not received a transcript and high school rec letter, although they were mailed six weeks before. Resent them by fax and admitted the next day, so you should definitely call. I think they lost the first set.

I applied with the Personal Application and heard back in less than a month, no problems whatsoever.

so i emailed my admissions counselor and he said that i would have normally heard back by now but when i was filling out the app he said i checked “regular decisions” instead of “personal app” which is why it has been delayed. :frowning: sigh
but he did say i will hear back before the usual april 1st desicions

Ouch! Why would they even HAVE that box on the personal app??? (rhetorical question)

My son applied in August using the Personal App… got email saying everything was complete…now getting the same email on Gibson/Tulane about finding out by December at the latest…what was the point of the Personal App? I really thought that a decision was made within 4 weeks on the Personal Apps? Any thoughts?

This thread is almost 5 years old! Better to start a new one. Closing this one. But to answer your question, the December message is the routine default message because that is the latest they will let him know. If he is going to be accepted, he will most likely find out sooner. If he is more borderline or there is some other issue, they may wait until December to make a decision, and even then it could be to defer a final decision to the RD pool (April 1). But I would say the vast majority of the time EA decisions (I am assuming he applied EA via the Personal App) are made quickly.

Wow, this is an old thread! If your son applied EA or SCEA he will hear back no later than December 15th. (I think the 15th??) My son applied SCEA last year. His application was marked complete on October 27th and he got his acceptance on October 29th. There is no preferred application,it all depends on if you apply RD, EA or SCEA.
