Cheer007 - You crossposted with my new thread regarding upcoming Tulane admissions. If I am right about Tulane becoming even more selective than before, it is very hard to judge your admission chances. Certainly applying SCEA is the way to go. I assume you are from California, but you have been to NOLA. Not sure if you recorded a visit to the campus with admissions at that time, but make sure they know you have visited.

You academic stats seem pretty borderline to me. But your EC’s are strong, and if you are as good a cheerleader as you seem from your titles, you should send the person in charge of Tulane cheerleaders a tape. I don’t think Tulane probably does scholarships for cheerleaders, although I don’t know one way or the other on that. But it can only help for you to make that contact and see what the situation is in that regard.

As was said on another chance thread, admission to any school is a holistic process and Tulane is certainly that way. You should maximize the assets you would bring to the school.

Thank you so much for your reply!
I have been in contact with the Cheerleading Coach and we have discussed my place on the team if accepted to Tulane. So I have a bit of an in there.
Also, I have been in close contact with the admissions counselor for my area. I am planning to meet with her here in the San Francisco area in September. Also, I am currently planning on visiting for the September Open House (this for Louisiana residents, but my counselor has assured me that I am welcome to attend)

Fingers crossed! I’m really hoping that by applying SCEA, it will show how badly I want to attend Tulane and give me that little bit of edge. Thank you for your help.

People have been shying away from chance threads, I think. Unless someone is way above or way below the typical criteria for a school, none of us can really say anything meaningful about your chances. We are not admissions officers and we cannot see your recommendations, your essays, etc. We can only offer advice on optimizing your application and the process, which I think has been covered for Tulane extensively in these threads.

The remaining purpose is to provide some therapeutic value to the poster, at least in theory. But the truth is you seem to be armed with all the information, and short of retaking the SAT there isn’t much you can do about your stats. So relax a little with the knowledge you are doing all you can for your Tulane app. From that perspective you are probably ahead of most. You seem to really want Tulane and I bet that will come through. The rest you cannot control.

Fallenchemist basically said it all. I like chance threads not so we can tell you if you’ll get in or not, but so we can help you make your application better. Your essay sounds like it will turn out incredible–put lots and lots of time into it!
I’m sure you know your SAT scores and GPA are low, but that isn’t the end all and be all of an application. Hopefully your incredible story and extra curriculars will overcome the lower GPA/test scores. Good luck!
