Tulane SCEA

Anyone applying to Tulane University SCEA? If so, what are your SAT/ACT scores? How much greater are your chances of being accepted SCEA than applying regular?

I applied SCEA.

what were your scores like? Have you applied and sent in everything yet?

Hi CollegeInquirer, according to US News and World Report info, Tulane has an overall acceptance rate of 26.0 percent, and an early acceptance rate of 36.6 percent.
The average test scores for those admitted is going up, but Tulane looks at community service as well as scores, so that will help your admission.
Good Luck

Probably the scores you need to get in SCEA are not significantly different than the scores for RD. The main reason the acceptance rate is higher SCEA, I think, is that Tulane really looks for strong interest in attending along with academic/community service records. All schools like demonstrated interest, but I think in Tulane’s case it is a bit more pronounced.

So to answer your question, if you apply SCEA AND you really show them why you want to be there, your chances go up significantly. As far as SAT/ACT scores, of course you cannot isolate one stat like that, but in general your ACT should be no lower than 26, and 29-32 is where the middle 50% of the student body is. The equivalent SAT scores are generally in the 620-710 range for each section, so about 1850-2100 in round numbers for a composite score. If you have scores in that range (or higher, duh) and the rest of your record is strong and you can elucidate why Tulane is the school for you, your chances are excellent.

Thank you everyone. My ACT/SAT scores are right in that 50% range and I have a ton of community service/ec’s so hopefully! Also, is there any other way I could win admissions’ attendance?

Yes, I should have pointed out that part of demonstrating interest in Tulane is to attend local events if you can (you can look at the admissions website for a list of visits they are doing around the country) and of course visit campus if possible. Other than that, just do a thoughtful “Why Tulane” essay that shows you know more about the school than just the cookie cutter “the academics are strong” or “New Orleans is such a unique place” or “I really want to help the New Orleans community”. I mean, any of those are fine if you can get specific as to why that makes a difference to you. For example, you think you want to major in X and Tulane has these programs supporting that as well as the chance to apply it in service to New Orleans, if that happens to be true. In other words, make it personal, and show you looked a little below the surface.

thank you so much!!
