Tulane Shuttles to the Airport

It has been discussed on this forum the best way to get to/from the airport. My question is, during busy holiday times, why doesn't Tulane run airport shuttles for the students? From what I'm told, it is very hard to get cabs in New Orleans. My D is going to try and leave 2 1/2 hours for the airport just in case her cab get taken/doesn't show/etc. I'm a bit concerned that she will miss her flight. Any ideas?

But there are airport shuttles, they just are not run by Tulane. [Tulane University - Airport Shuttle, Inc.](http://tulane.edu/universityservices/airport-shuttle.cfm) And since you make reservations, there shouldn’t be an issue about available space, etc.

You sound like me two years ago when my D1 was a freshman. She got to the airport so early that she had hours to kill! The cab will show up and they come constantly, try not to worry. There is never a problem! Good luck and enjoy having your D home, you will see, Christmas you will be much more relaxed.

Thanks momof2, your response made me chuckle. I am very good about finding things to worry about :)

How long is the shuttle from the airport to the campus? I am thinking about attending next year! Also, generally, how much does the shuttle cost?

Npcx723, Nobody worries as much as I do. That first trip home, I made my poor D text me every step of the way - when she got in the cab, when he got the airport, when she got to her gate, when she got on the plane. Thankfully she is a good sport and she puts up with my nuttiness. But I have really gotten used to her being responsible and travelling on her own, this semester she is abroad, she travels to different countries every weekend and I am getting thru it without too many sleepless nights! I’ve come a long way in the past two years! And my D2 just flew home alone for the first time on Saturday and I only needed her to text me that she made it to the airport.

Blueberr - the cost was on that link I gave, which says $20 one way, $38 round trip. It takes on average 45 minutes, but during heavy traffic it can take an hour.

Ok thanks, and also, how much money generally would a taxi cost?

Not sure. I know that if you are the only person the taxi is more. I think if you share with one other it is about the same, and 3 in a taxi is cheaper. Often once you are at Tulane you can find one or two others going at around the same time. The nice thing about a taxi is that it is faster (assuming you are all going from/to campus).

A taxi from Tulane to the airport for one person is $33 plus tip, as per S who came home on Saturday (so happy to have him home before the big storm!)

To close the loop on this question…D came home yesterday, cab was on time and ready to go to the airport. No need to worry this one!

Very good! Have a great Thanksgiving, everyone!

Just dropped S off at the airport. Expected big security lines, but they were not bad at all. He met up with a bunch of retuning Tulanians. The only glitch was that his boarding pass did not scan, so they had to print a new one, no biggie. Sitting next to Tulane friends and will share a cab back to school. First trip home…a success!
