@DangerDoctor, no, you are not our of consideration. Your application for admissions will be considered in comparison to the Regular Decision pool for admissions and you will still be considered for PTA or DHS. In years past, deferred applicants have ultimately gained admission and been granted these awards.
@jozuko Thank you!
Hi. I was just deferred EA from Tulane, but it is my top choice in school. I have a 3.8 UW and 4.6 W GPA (I have taken 7 AP’s). I have a composite score of 29 ACT, but a 31 superscored (I sent all my tests in the hopes it’d be under consideration, as science is the only score that brought me down).I am involved in many EC, such as an editor of my school paper and music. Now that I will be considered for regular decision, is there still a chance for me to get merit aid or finiancial if I am accepted (do I even have good chance of being accepted now)? Also, when my application is looked at again, will they be aware that I was deferred, because I want to know what to do to stand out as more against the new RD pool.
@musical99 You will still be considered for financial aid/merit aid even if you are deferred!
Does Tulane super score? I was accepted with a 31 ACT (36E, 35R, 27M, 26S), and I took the ACT again in Dec and got a 30 (31E, 33R, 27M, 29S). Although my composite was one point lower, the 29 in science made my super score a 32. Would Tulane use the 32 super score when determining the DHS/PTA?
@ZBlue17 - Tulane superscores the SAT, not the ACT.
@TulaneMaddie22 We are wondering whether to apply to Tulane ED (Jan 6) or RD (Jan 15). My son has already got a good offer from CWRU and a few publics, bringing the OOP costs down to about 10-12k which is the max we can afford. Stream is engineering, so CWRU is right now our top choice. The only reason to apply anywhere else ( and we are considering full needs schools like Duke and UPenn ) would be to lower OOP costs to the low single figures ( a few thousand ). Our EFC is zero, income bracket <30k. Would Tulane meet our needs, and would it be better to apply ED ? Thanks.
You should not apply ED with all the financials you are juggling. I would suggest apply RD then compare the finances. Maddie would not be able to compare your financials at Tulane with certainty.
@sidatom the only way to estimate would be to use the net price calculator on Tulane’s website which only offers an estimate but can give you a good idea of the financial aid Tulane would provide you with. ED is binding and you would not have access to your financial aid package immediately but you wold never truly be bound to it if the financial aid package does not amount to enough. It is up to your family but since ED is binding and you are unsure about the financial aspect it may be better to apply RD.
Daughter accepted EA with 28K/year merit money - I am an alum myself and I would like her to attend as I think it will be a good fit. She is concerned about the “party atmosphere” and wanted to see if there are ways for me to counteract that impression. Thanks!
Will all Paul Tulane award applicants receive a chance to get an interview?
Does anyone know the general time frame in which we’d receive our need based financial aid decision? The only Destination Tulane id be able to make is the February one, but my parents don’t want to make the pricey trip if Tulane ends up too expensive.
Does the time of submission matter for Tulane? I submitted my application at the last minute making sure that everything was perfect but was wondering whether that will hurt my chances of getting in?
I was admitted EA. I have only submitted the FAFSA and CSS to Tulane (Dec 15). I was wondering if Tulane has confirmed they have processed these for anyone? And is anyone aware of what else we’re supposed to submit?
@CrazyMaman, I know a Tulane freshman from our town (she’s a year older than my daughter and they’ve attended the same schools). She is certainly not a party girl. Whenever I have asked her family how Tulane is going for her, they say she LOVES it. She is very academic and into physical fitness, and apparently she has found people that share her interests. I think Tulane is large enough that there is something for everyone.
@TulaneMaddie22 Do you know when they will begin to release RD? I was deferred EA and I know it says we’ll hear by April 1st. But, last year when did people begin hearing for RD since it’s rolling? Also, since I was deferred EA, do I have a better chance of hearing earlier? I really wanted to visit Tulane over April break if I got in but want to find out soon so I have time to plan a trip.
I wrote to the financial aid office and was able to receive the Financial aid package for my student (EA acceptance)within 5 days. We have signed up for Destination Tulane Feb 13.
After submitting electronic copy of FAFSA and CSS profile, you are required to send hard copies.
@microrna is everyone supposed to send hard copies? Why is this not said on the website…? And I thought they sent out financial aid pa mages for EA all at once? Someone told me in Feb
My understanding is that financial aid packages will be sent in February for those who submitted forms in December and who applied Early Action. I never heard of any requirement to send hard copies of the FAFSA or CSS. Both the FAFSA and CSS Profile are sent electronically to the schools you list after you fill out the forms online and hit he submit button. I think you are confusing this with the requirement to send a hard copy of the tax return or tax transcript if asked.
