Tulane to Northwestern

I'm unhappy at Tulane and feel like the people at Northwestern are more my speed, and the education is obviously more highly regarded. I was wondering what gpa I need to get into Northwestern and what else I should do to improve my chances of being accepted as a transfer. Right now, I'm looking at a 3.7 first semester gpa. I was an average student in high school with 3.4 gpa, 30 on the ACT, and 2010 on the SAT.

I think your HS grade won’t be as important as it was during app period(but STILL IMPORTANT!), your HS GPA doesn’t seem high enough…and nor is your test score.

what dont you like about tulane? im a senior and applying to both of these schools…

Also a HS Senior applying to Tulane. What don’t you like about it?

Actually, for some schools, when it does to transfer students, HS grades don’t matter much at all.

Tulane is a lot more about partying than you think. And your friends really depend on where you live. I understand that people become friends with those that live on their floor anywhere, but at Tulane, if you live in a “social” dorm, you don’t talk to those that don’t. I picked to live in the honors dorm because my studies are very important to me and I heard that it’s nearly impossible to get work done in the other dorms. Unfortunately, the people in my dorm are mostly what you would expect in an honors dorm, so I’ve had trouble finding people that are like me that willing to allow me, as an honors dorm kid, into their social dorm group. Additionally, I’ve been looked down upon for wanting to stay in on a friday or saturday night and I’ve been looked at funny when wanting to go to bed earlier than 12. There are people with substance here and I understand that I need to find them, I just don’t think it should be this hard to.

I’ve been accepted to Brandeis, U Miami, Tulane, and Northeastern. Right now I’m debating between the four. I was leaning towards Tulane after I visited but now I’m not so sure anymore because of this kind of situation. I am not too much of a partier and I take my academics very seriously. I didn’t feel like I fit in with everyone else.
