Well long story short, I was a good student in high school(from South mississippi) but also a great football player, i received many rewards as well as recognition from local newspapers and online websites such as scout.com and rivals.com. Bottom line is I went to a school based on football instead of academic excellence. I ultimately went to a top football JC in the country to get more exposure and ended up signing with Southern Miss to play football this year but recently I have decided to step down from football and transfer to a higher institution to further my education and make things easier on me in life when I enter in my family business.

Job experience: Worked 8 months at a local mcdoanlds as a crew member for extra money during offseason of football. I also worked at the local garbage company as a truck detailer(washer) and also during certain breaks and holidays i worked as a residential trash hopper(back of a truck in neighborhoods).
In applying for transfer to both tulane and loyola i feel like I killed the essays and short responses. My dad proofread both and thought I did an excellent job. For loyola I got a great recommendation from a former acc. math teacher from high school. I have my fingers crossed but Im not really sure if I even have a chance. Please chance me!

I think the reason you have not gotten a reply is that it is very difficult to predict transfer chances. It is not only grades but also space, and we just don’t know how that looks right now at Tulane. It certainly seems you have a good shot at it, and Tulane is one of the better finance programs in the country, actually. Recognized by lots of publications, including the Financial Times of London. There have been threads about this in the past if you search the Tulane form using “finance”.

I saw the reply by the Loyola admissions office, which is nice but what else is admissions going to say, LOL? Don’t get me wrong, Loyola is a fine school, but there is no comparison between Tulane Finance and theirs. Yes, I am a Tulane supporter so I am not unbiased either, although I have directed many students to other schools that had particular interests better served elsewhere. But those other threads give plain evidence of how strong the Tulane program is.

So really there is nothing any of us here can tell you, except that you seem like a decent candidate if there is room. If you were only 1 year out I would have said the ACT is a problem, but since you will have 3 semesters worth of credits after this semester, if I read your post right, they should weigh that more heavily I would think. Best of luck!

Thanks a lot for the post fallenchemist. I figured it would be a complicated situation but thanks for your opinion. I agree that you are totally right about the Loyola post but I also feel like I have them in the bag and Im crossing my fingers for Tulane cause it is my first choice. But Im looking forward to living in NOLA none the less. Will just have to see what school I end up at.

Well got my acceptance letter from Loyola at the end of last week. They also are giving me the transfer scholarship of $36,000 over three years. I am excited but I am still gonna wait on Tulane before I make my final decision.

Congrats! Always good to have one in the bag, even if it isn’t your first choice. It is a good school, I know several very successful Loyola grads.

Didnt get in to Tulane. Not totally surprised by the outcome due to things I have been hearing about numbers and what not. Loyola is now my number one choice.
