Tulane Transfer Fall 2020

Anyone else planning on or currently applying to Tulane as a transfer for Fall 2020?

I am! I visited today and started my application process. Please PM me!

I was accepted to Tulane with honors and scholarship as a freshmen but ended up going to GWU instead. I’m applying to transfer now, hoping to get in! I’m afraid me rejecting the acceptance the first time will hurt me now…

I am! Waiting on a decision.

Accepted today!

Also accepted today! Submitted my app on January 31st. Might be attending in the fall!!!

How long do you have to accept the offer of admission?

I think the enrollment deadline is June 15th

does applying after the February 1st deadline give me a disadvantage?

Yes it does.

I’d apply anyway though.

I just got accepted!

Hi guys! I applied February 1st for early decision but still haven’t heard anything back yet. I know there was an email saying that decisions are taking longer because of the virus, but I’m wondering if anyone else is on the same boat. Thanks and good luck to all!

Hi! Anyone else transferring in as a junior? My daughter was accepted as a transfer and will be a junior in the fall. She’s just starting to think about looking for housing and roomates. We are from California, she’s a business major, plays club volleyball for SDSU, easy going girl & respectful roomate, she takes school seriously and also loves everything New Orleans has to offer. Please message me if you or anyone you know is looking for a roomate and I can connect you with her. Thanks.

I am considering transferring to Tulane for FALL 2020. I already applied and all of my required materials were received 03/17. I am in a bit of a dilemma about whether to go if I am accepted (which I think I will be since, in addition to my grades, I would be a legacy; my mother and brother both graduated from Tulane). I have a 4.0 at my current institution and am interested in studying business at Tulane if I transfer, and then going on to law school (hopefully into a dual J.D./M.B.A program). I am finishing my junior year at my current college – a small liberal arts college in the south which is in financial troubles (like, might-lose-its-accreditation-and-close-down financial trouble, though that would likely not occur for a few years, if it does at all) and whose students are not as academically focused as I am. The cons to transferring are that I am on course to receive summa cum laude at my current institution (which would be a big deal for law school acceptance), and I would have to add another year to my undergraduate time (due to Tulane’s 60 credit requirement); but spending an extra year doesn’t bother me that much, since I will be commuting from home and will use the time to complete a business major and study for LSAT. The pros are that I would be closer to home (I live in NOLA), would be around more like-minded people, would be significantly climbing to a better school (at least as far as college rankings are concerned) and would graduate with a B.S.M. degree from one of the finest business schools in the nation. Any thoughts about what I should do? I am really torn about this. Sorry for writing a book btw.

@norcalmom123 I will be transferring, if I am accepted, as a junior. Though, unfortunately, I plan on commuting to Tulane. In that sense, I can’t be much help to your daughter’s roommate search. However, I also am planing on majoring in business, and would probably have some classes with your daughter if I attend Tulane. Cool coincidence. She sounds like an intelligent and fun person – which is one of the thinks I have been wanting in fellow classmates (one of the main reasons I am considering a transfer). Hope your search ends well, and I hope to meet your daughter at Tulane. Roll wave. Best of luck!

@Kd6410 I think it would actually be to your advantage that you were accepted the first time around and chose a different school; Tulane has tuff undergraduate admissions standards (they only accepted 13% of regular applicants in 2019 and their transfer acceptance rate is much higher) and that would tell them that you were qualified back then and, assuming your college gpa is not abysmal, I see not why they would hold that against you. It also all depends about how you frame it. I hope you wrote about how not choosing Tulane back then was a mistake in your PS; opportunity missed if not.

I applied on February 7th and my application is complete on the 27th. I haven’t heard anything yet. This wait is killing me.

Transfers always hear late at almost every school - May. Take some deep breaths.
