Tulane! Tulane!

Congrats to your son. That is fantastic! My 'source" has not been reachable, but I guess you have your answer anyway.Who's next up in your son's admissions parade?

Hi again Curmudgeon,

If you should hear from your "source" I would love confirmation that merit offers indeed haven't been made yet. As for what is up next for S, I'd be happy to share that privately. I am reluctant to post too much personal stuff here as I think S might be very recognizable given where we live and where he has applied.

Hi Hoo -

S received a Personal App for which Tulane promised a 4 week turnaround time. His app went in toward the end of Oct. but recs, transcripts, etc. went several weeks before that. We were indeed surprised at their speed too. We can only imagine that they hope to be his sentimental favorite.

Alright. I just didn't realize it was rolling.

I got my acceptance last Thrusday. I had a 1330 SAT, a 32 ACT, and a 94 unweighted gpa. I did the personal application thing, the fee was waived and the essay was optional, but I wrote an essay anyways. I applied for the Dean's Honor Scholarship too, does anyone know when we find out who gets that?

According to the regular app packet, the dean's winners are announced Feb. 20.

dang mine's not in yet but tulane sorta is my safety so i'm not worrying too much about it.

I'm probably applying to Tulane also - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=7976

I was just accepted on Friday as well. They say it should take 4 weeks to hear if you are accepted or not after you send it in. The "Are you in?" is a give-away that you are accepted, who would have the heart to write that on the envelope of someone rejected? But there are only two sheets in the envelope, so it can be deceiving.

holy crap, i got my acceptance letter roughly five minuets ago, reason why i post so quickly, i had a dream about not getting accepted, and i had checked this post aout 100 times lastnight i was so nervous

1280 sat 86 uw gpa and mediocer ec, no volunteer work or awards

i think what got me in besides fanatical devotion to music both in school and outside, is the essay i wrote, i thoght it was incredibly kick ass, and appearenty somebody else did too.

just hope to everyone that you dont have to be a machine to get into a university meant for people

Who gets these four week turnarounds? Does Tulane have to send you something for that, if you apply EA do you hear in four weeks or do we have to wait till Dec. 15th? Congrads ian kavanagh, good to know that someone got in that's close to me in sats.

I can't speak for the others who posted their acceptances here, but in my S's case, he received a personal application that promised a 4 week turnaround - 4 weeks from when Tulane had received the app, transcripts, test scores, etc. As for who got personal apps, my sense from reading posts on earlier threads is that Tulane sent personal apps to kids who expressed early interest in Tulane and/or kids in parts of the country that are not as well represented in the student body. S replied to some Tulane mail as a junior, and we live in a state that sends kids there, but not in huge numbers.

i got in tulane w/ 1300+ and 3.8+ gpa, commended scholar, lots of ecs, any luck on dean's scholarship for me??? Have any of you all recieved any scholarships? If so, please post stats if you don't mind so I can see where I stand. Thanks guys.

wow.. I didn't even know tulane had any reputation. Over the summer, they mailed me a fee-waiver and said that I didn't have to write an essay and they would still accept me. Hmm... maybe I should've taken that opportunities. Oh well :

Yeah Tulane defered me but I'm not sure they even read my stuff. The letter was dated December 7th and my mom called the week before to make sure they had finally recieved my transcript. So I think they perhaps since they had so much mail either half assed my application or just defered me. Is being defered at Tulane bad, do you have no shot? Tulane isn't my first choice but it's up there so I would like to know.
