I’ve heard Tulane is redirecting their endowment towards Financial Aid instead of merit aid. Tulane is my top school but I need to get it to at least $50k to be able to afford it. I applied EA and do not qualify for any financial aid. However, I also applied for the Paul Tulane Award. (I’m doubtful I’ll receive it, but I’ve heard it sometimes gives an extra 1-5k). Also, my HS historically has a great relationship with Tulane
SAT: 1470 (790 math, 680 English)
GPA: 4.06 UW, 4.5 W (not great freshman year, strong upward trend)
APs: 6 (with 1 Dual enrollment class at state university)
EC: Company dancer (15hr/wk), principal musician (orchestra), publication pending on an independent medical research paper, President of NHS, around 250 hours community service at hospital, leadership and involvement in church.
Essays: Probably the weaker point of my application, but all grammatically correct and interesting stories.
Letters of recommendation: FERPA waived, but I’m assuming these were very strong
Interest: LOTS of demonstrated interest, able to visit prior to pandemic, and attended a number of webinars (they sent me a hat thanking me for my interest)
I would have probably Ed-ed but I need around 26k to afford to attend…because the total cost is around 76k for this year. What kind of merit aid do you think I’ll receive?
