Since the due date was the 15th, I figured we should get a forum started!
This waiting is driving me crazy. Can anyone describe New Orleans for me? How is parking, traffic, nightlife, etc?
when do you think notifications for RD students are?
@DL43516 thats a hard question to answer! New Orleans (NOLA) is unlike any other city in the US. It’s vibrant, exciting, seedy, with beautiful architecture, amazing music and some of the best food in the world. It’s got a laid back southern vibe (everything happens on “nola time”. Driving and parking is a nightmare. Public transportation is pretty good between buses, cabs, streetcars, pedicabs. Every kind of live music you can imagine from big name pop stars to small sultry jazz clubs, funk, rap, brass bands, even some punk thrown in. There are festivals practically every weekend and celebrations for everything. Sports are also a big pasttime from the Saints and Pelicans and Zephyrs and Tulane sports, fishing, boating. Amazing food from Cajun and creole to french, Spanish, African, Vietnamese, Mexican to burgers and pizza.
Is there an actual date decision will be released? Deferred EA
@Maxie97 also deferred EA… Still waiting! Were you able to access fin aid page before this week? I couldn’t just wondering! : )
@Stvincent1 I’m deferred, too. Able to get to fin aid for a couple of days now with “Unsatisfied Requirements” as “Admission decision pending review”.
I did not apply for financial aid
@woodbury2010 I can access fin aid now, but couldn’t a couple of days ago… Mine also has “admission decision pending review” and that I am missing the FAFsA, which I sent a long time ago… I think we will know soon…
@Maxie97 Ok! I think they do not have a specific date, but apparently they have been notifying already for the past weeks!
@Stvincent1 Did you provide your SSN on Gibson site?
No one from my school has heard anything…I guess I ll just wait and keep my fingers crossed.
@Stvincent1 where else did you apply?
@Maxie97 I applied. Northeast and some in FL… But Tulane one of my top choices…
@woodbury2010 Yes I did put SS when prompted to do so… Maybe I needed to do that to access!
From reading past posts I noticed that decisions are put in some sort of “waves”… Apparently many decisions were posted first week of march… Last year a second round was apparently posted mid-late march… Just guessing
I was accepted just last week and have yet to receive my acceptance letter via snail mail. Would my merit be on the portal? Or in the package that I am awaiting?
@mullaneyj6
Congrats! It will definitely be in the paper letter if there is to be a merit scholarship. You can also check the financial aid section of your Gibson portal and see if anything shows up there. If yes, then you have gotten some, but if not it might just mean they haven’t caught up with the paperwork yet. The letter in the mail is the most definitive source for that information. If it doesn’t say anything in the letter, then you did not receive a merit award.
@fallenchemist Thanks for the quick response. Much appreciated.
Nothing has shown up on the portal so I’m hoping it’ll be in the letter. The award section says nothing, which could either be a good thing or a bad thing. We’ll see.
