Tulane v.s. WF

I was accepted to Tulane RD and deferred from WF ED, but i believe that my mid-year report was the only reason i was accepted. How do you think my chances are at WF if i was admitted to Tulane, and how do the schools compare generally. Thank you, any responces are appreciated.

iirc, Tulane is much more difficult to get into (lower admissions, better test scores, etc), so I think your chances are pretty good at WF. If not, probably one of those weird admissions flukes.

^^huh??? We know at least 5 kids who were rejected to WF ED that were accepted to Tulane with merit $$…

Agreeing with Rodney on this one. From our large public hs - 28% admit rate to Wake vs. 62% admit rate to Tulane. A number of EDs to Wake denied or deferred. Average accepted ACT score at Tulane is 30 - at Wake - it is a 32. I don’t think there is a way to predict your Wake decision based on your acceptance to Tulane.

As far as a comparison - I think they are quite different. My opinion - Wake is more rigorous academically - it is also more sports/Greek life oriented. Tulane has the advantage of being in a fun city - strong emphasis on community service. Wake is more conservative. Tulane has better diversity.

Hi rockvillemom - When I saw your post on the Tulane thread, I thought your name sounded familiar. I totally agree that Wake is much harder to get into. Tulane’s lower acceptance rate is certainly affected by their huge number of applications due to the short app/no fee policy and not necessarily because it’s harder to be accepted there. My son visited and interviewed at Wake last fall and absulately fell in love with the school. Where did you get the average ACT of 32? Their CDS shows their 25%/75% at 27-31. My son has a 31 ACT. Now I’m going to worry if it’s below their average since he’s got his heart set on attending. He’ll find out in 3 weeks.

CDS stats are for enrolled students , RVM cited average accepted which are universally used by admissions in marketing materials.

Enrolled stats almost always will be lower than accepted numbers , large percentages of strong accepted apps enroll at even more competitive schools.

WF is also test score optional , so accepted stats do not include apps that omit test scores.
Once enrolled , students must submit test scores for data compilation in the CDS.

"If you feel that your SAT or ACT with writing scores are a good indicator of your abilities, you may submit them and they will be considered in your admissions decision. If, however, you do not feel that your scores accurately represent your academic abilities, you do not need to submit them until after you have been accepted and choose to enroll. "
