Tulane VS Trinity

I have been accepted toTulane and Trinity and both would be close to the same price. I visited Tulane in October and just got back from visiting Trinity. Both schools are very very different and I honestly love them both. However, I am having a hard time telling which is the better school: better professor student connection? Smartest students? Class sizes? Atmosphere? San Antonio vs NOLA? I am planning on double majoring in Neuroscience and Philosophy on the premed track and am just trying to weigh the pros and cons. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

@HerbDoctor17 Those are two very different schools. You already got to visit them both so I’m not sure that anyone on here can answer that question for you better than you. You can do all the things you described that plan to to do at either school with great success(put another way, if you are not successful it won’t be either schools fault). Tulane is more prestigious and the students have higher HS stats. Trinity is very small with a huge oil money endowment that makes the school feel bigger than it is. They claim to have super small class sizes. The dorms are bigger/nicer at Trinity, but you have to live there at least three years. Tulane and the surrounding New Orleans environment offers a bigger “adventure” in my opinion. San Antonio is nice enough but doesn’t strike me as being as vibrant or as community oriented as New Orleans. You basically have the river walk near Trinity’s campus and not much more. I have to imagine that it would be easier to stay focused on your pre-med studies and get the grades you need at Trinity because it’s not as nearly as social as Tulane. Neither school is exactly a sports powerhouse, but Tulane has a big edge here too because at least they are D1. If the money is the same then I would choose Tulane unless you are not an outgoing and social person.

Agree with @EDHDAD. Only go to Trinity over Tulane if it’s significantly lower in price, or if you are specifically looking for a much smaller and less social liberal arts vibe.

If you are pre med and also planning on a Philosophy major - look into the creative acceptance into Tulane Medical school, if you haven’t already http://www2.tulane.edu/liberal-arts/cpsp.cfm
