Ok so my college process seems to be all done, decided on Tulane after getting a huge scholarship and honors program, and I decide to check what CC has to say about it. And I have to say, coming here right before i send my deposit in wasn't exactly the best of ideas.

I'm just looking for some peace of mind...Tulane is looked upon as a good school by grad schools and future employers, correct? It's always been my impression that Tulane is a great school academically, and that graduating from there, especiallly from the honors program, would be a great move for my future. But after reading some of these threads on here a couple of pages back where people absolutely tear up Tulane, trashing it, saying that in a few years it's going to lose almost all of its prestige and all this, I'm a little concerned...

Bottom line, Tulane is a really good school, correct? I mean people always tell me that undergrad doesnt even matter that much anyway, as long as you put up solid grades. I just want to make sure that Tulane is at or near where I'm imagining at in terms of Academic prestige.

For what it's worth I'm not really turning down harvard or yale for Tulane. I've gotten waitlisted basically everywhere else, so my choiceright now is Tulane honors + 24k, clemson, fordham, or george mason... so I think im making the right choice regardless haha

You may have missed some of my older posts but my son graduated last year and he and his friends got into very fine graduate schools or received fabulous job offers. He was in the honors program and he felt he received an excellent education. He turned down some "higher ranked" schools for Tulane and never regretted it. My younger son is a freshman there now. Loves it too.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just enjoy the school that feels right to you. It's got great academics, and it's very well-known. If you do well and take advantage, that'll do you a world of good far more than a name on your diploma could :)

You were right when you said coming to CC right before submitting your deposit wasn't a good idea. If you go on the threads for ANY school (except maybe HYP) you'll find someone trashing it here on CC. You really have to take much of what you read here with a "grain of salt." 90% of it is garbage to be ignored. You've obviously thought long and hard about your choice and should be happy with it. Tulane has a fine reputation. Stop second-guessing yourself and look forward to your college years.
