Turing Class of 2026

so more than 40 joined in the last few days?

Thanks for letting us know, and for reading our venting. We don’t have any animosity towards those accepted. The whole process by which they admit, including university admissions, is simply terrible. I think my son will weigh options and UT may or may not be in his future.

Yup. Yesterday and the day before a ton of ppl joined, although I don’t know if its because a new wave came out or because of the fact they resent the email with the discord link in it to Turing scholars who didn’t receive it

Ye I think its prob the latter then since I haven’t seen a new wave

Does anyone know how many people they admit on average to turing and CSB?

Wow, spectacular stats. Hope he gets accepted to Turing an IVys of his choice. Please update the forum once he accepts a school. Curious where a talented young man like this goes to ultimately

That is a good question. I wonder if the folks in this thread that didn’t get Turing got the CSB interviews afterwards. Meaning Turing may have already been decided.

Edit - 100 get admitted to Turing and 60 to CSB I think. Sorry I misinterpreted your question.

I got an email yesterday asking to clarify some information on my turing application saying they were “reviewing my application” so I’m assuming that means they haven’t finished going through applications yet? I find it hard to believe they are just now getting to mine because I applied back in October, but who knows honestly. Try not to let it give me hope, but kinda sucky if they ask me for more information if they were just gonna outright reject me. Who knows with UT though

That is at least a good sign. Perhaps they may have the last batch of 10-15 left. I heard the number is typically 100-110 admits into Turing with about 50% yield. Program completion so I’ve heard is 40% due to the thesis required. That is a totally different subject altogether!

In the 2019 turing thread (3 years back) they said that 132 were admitted in the admitted students session. Not sure how the number has changed recently though

Does this include students already in CS that transferred into the program, meaning second year students?

Maybe they are going back to review applications to trim out the best ones?

No, in that thread that was simply the people accepted as freshman that year

Not sure how covid has impacted that number though

I found this article from a few years ago that quoted 129 admits. The photo says a lot though.

Ye so hopefully they aren’t finished admitting students

I think CC fatigue is setting in across the board

Haha. At this point, I think my chances are very very low considering the first session is Feb 26.

oh man I’m so burnt out with UT at this point, I think it would be better if the people around me also hadn’t heard back but at this point I feel like there’s no hope left

That was exactly my point in my post yesterday
