Turkish.

I was just watching this show called Turkuaz TV and Turkish is such an ugly language. It sounds similar to German. It sounds so barbaric. Yuck. I'm so glad I'm not Turkish.

Whoa. I bet you really are Turkish...
I've actually heard someone SING in Turkish...it wasn't so terrible.

Live and let the Turkish live, man. Leave their language alone.

haha I saw a Turkish music video this morning. It wasn't that bad.

If I was Turkish, then I wouldn't hate it. I'm Greek.

who's tried turkish delight?

I liked the turkish kissing song.

I dont speak turkish nor am I turkish but man that was rude..honestly get some respect for other languages/cultures ect.

@prolixity - I LOVE turkish delight..try it with graham crackers (like a s'more minus the chocolate but dont heat it up)

I think it's cool that people take the time to learn Turkish, but I don't see the usefulness of it unless you plan on travelling to Turkey.

It was my opinion. Just like some people don't like strawberries, I don't like Turkish.

flamebait much?

I just read your post about you learning arabic as a kid. That probably means your Arab/Muslim.

Did you get offended because Turkey is a muslim country?

was that directed to me?

If you don't know what a flamebait is:
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flamebait%5B/url%5D">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flamebait</a></p>

What is the point of this thread? Do you just want to opinion of your dislike of the Turkish language to be seen by all? Or do you want other people to share there dislike of certain langauges ("Yuck, I'm glad I'm not _____")? You offer no questions in the original post.

Is there usefulness to any language unless you're going to encounter this language in one's lifetime (besides minor perks and language families) and academics? [Of course there are, obscure ones if necessary.]

Are you just offended by the Turkish language because of shaky Greco-Turkish relations?
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greco-Turkish_relations%5B/url%5D">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greco-Turkish_relations</a></p>

[I'm not Turkish, or share any relations to the country of Turkey, btw. I would respond the same way with any thread comparable to this.]

Go away Johnny boy.

surge, no I wasn't talking to you.

I don't feel like responding. I'm too tired.

Johnathon K. I am as Turkish as it can get and it really is a much more useful language than you may think. Turkish is spoken in Turkey, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and some parts of Syria, Kahzakistan and bulgaria. By the way around 100 million people speak turkish just so you know. 70 million of them or so being from Turkey. Hard to belive right ? Also, this summer I will be working at a refugee camp in turkey, for iraqi turks and kurds that were moved from their homes in Iraq to live in Turkey. Since I speak both Turkish and English, I will have a huge benefit between soldiers being stationed there and the people. Turkey is also very very rich in culture and history and a lot of historians studying middle-eastern history almost are always pretty fluent in turkish. Also, before you downplay an entire culture, Greece has only 10 million people living in it who speak greek, while Turkey alone has 70 million people in turkey who speak turkish. You do the math, a 1:7 ratio, greek is even more useless than turkish, but again you should disrespect someone else's culture if you are so misinformed and are clearly in some way biased.

Umm.. there's like 750,000 people living in Cyprus. A little more than 1/4 of that is Turkish. The rest are Greek.

Azerbaijan and Turkemistan? Come on. To be frank, those aren't really important countries.

Turkey bugs me. They think they're cool and they're not. They like to cause drama.

I prey to God they don't get into the EU. They'll ruin it forever.

Johnathon K., your flat out racist. No matter which way you put it, you discriminated an entire group of people and your reason for it was that "they think they are cool, but they are not." Honestly I think you are just jealous that Greece only has 1/7 the amount of people living there and you feel that you should discriminate on the country next to you because they will be one of the major economic countries in the next decade and and century. You are just jealous that Greece is slowly becoming smaller and smaller and no one is frankly caring about it as much because there isn't much business going on there and next door Turkey is booming. There has been like 60% economic growth in Turkey in the last year alone and it will be a major economic center. Live with it.

That's cool I guess.

I'm just saying they'll ruin the EU.

I can't believe the EU is even considering lettting Turkey in. Eww.
