Turn down Ross BBA?

I was admitted to Ross as a transfer but also admitted to UChicago for this coming year.

I am weighing my options and am looking for more opinions to help me make my decision.

Money is of no concern, and I would like to get a banking internship after my sophomore year, which I hear is very do-able at UChicago, but not so much at Ross. Also, I would like to get into buy side quickly after graduation....which would be helped along if I could get 2 summers of IB experience

Any ideas?

i would go to uchicago.
i transferred out of ross for upenn econ.

I would assume that UChicago's location would make it easier to intern as a soph, much like with Stern.

Its tough. If you can deal with UCHICAGO's dull life, then def. go there. Their econ program is through the roof and nationally acclaimed. It WILL get you street respect, moreso, I believe, than Ross. Ross is good all around though, in that its academics are good and social scene is good. Chicago's econ, though, academically, is the clear cut choice for banking.

uchicago does not have a dull social life at all. in some aspects, i think it's better than michigan because of it's state school atmosphere and huge size.

I am not sure how posters in this thread came to the conclusion that Chicago is somehow better or more reputable than Michigan. It isn't. Academically, they are peers. In terms of professional placement, Ross probably has an advantage, but you should not chose based on that. Chicago has an amazing Econ department, arguably #1 in the US. But Michigan isn't chopped liver in Economics. Michigan's Econ department is considered one of the top 10 in the US. There is very little an undergrad can achieve as an Econ major at Chicago that he/she cannot achieve at Michigan. Bottom line, I would recommend you go with fit. Chicago and Michigan are very different, so chosing based on fit shouldn't be too difficult.

Detailed placement stats for Ross in the links below. Keep in mind that Ross only graduates 350 students each year.

I am not a party-er..or a drinker...and I already have a niche of friends at UMich, and I'd be fine there, but the UChicago atmosphere suits me just fine as well....I've visited and stayed overnight and thought it was great.

Are there any kids on this board who are in Ross?

You should go to the Michigan and Chicago forums and ask students various questions. I know that there are several Ross students who regularly post on the Michigan forum and they can answer your questions.

What type of buy-side work are we talking about here?

hedge funds...I know UChicago has a few that recruit

Hey akx06, could you please tell me your qualifications cuz I plan on trying to transfer to Ross too next year.....

Where did you complete freshman year from??

If you want to do quant work at a HF right out of college, I'd double major in Math/Econ at Chicago. You could probably do the same by double majoring with LSA at Ross, but it might take an extra semester. If you are planning on doing a couple years at an IB (which is the typical route) before heading over to HF, I'd go with Ross.
