Turn in Application before november 1 without ACT writing?

I am taking the ACT with writing in October, but have already taken the ACT without writing once before, i know it says you can update scores up until january 15, does that mean i can update the score with writing?? Or will i need to wait until i take the test and turn it in after november 1??

At IU it is always better to turn in the application as soon as possible. They may not admit you until the writing score is received, but once that is complete it should be a fairly quick process. IU some how keeps track of all of the components of the applicants even when they are received at various times and from multiple sources.

I don’t know if you are eligible for any of the automatic scholarships. Here is what the IU website says about the application materials and automatic scholarships:

“All of your completed application materials for admission must be submitted online or postmarked by the November 1 deadline to receive consideration for Automatic Academic Scholarships. If you submit application materials later than November 1, you will not be eligible for Automatic Academic Scholarships.”

I noticed the use of the word “ALL.” I take this to mean that your application will be incomplete without the writing score. As I understand it, this would make you ineligible for automatic scholarships unless IU receives the writing score before Nov. 1.

There is also this though about deadlines:

“January 15: Students who meet the November 1 deadline may submit updated SAT or ACT scores by this date for reconsideration of Automatic Academic Scholarships.”

In the past I’ve taken the word “reconsideration” to mean that IU may give you more money if your scores are higher at a later date provided you had a complete application. The question is whether IU will consider your application complete without the writing score. That is probably a question that warrants a phone call to admissions.

ahh well i may have to do that, right now i have a 30 ACT (no Writing) and 3.53 GPA, so fall a little bit short of Automatic Scholarships
