I was just wondering if other ppl turned down other ivies for Cornell b/c it seems the other way, which is kinda sad, but what the heck, its Cornell and I am glad to be a Cornellian :)

Congratulations! Cornell is about the only ivy that my son might consider because it fits his interests so well and is in such a beautiful location. I know several people who applied ED to Cornell who have excellent qualifications, and never regretted it. Hats off to you!

I just visited Cornell on sunday and frankly, i'm in love with the place. It's very unique in that it's student body is so huge and varied yet there's such an amazing community atmosphere. I would definitely choose it over many of the other Ivies if I had the qualifications to get into one or more ivies :)

Hey, there are plenty of people who pick the "rest of the Ivies" over HYP. (my hallmate is one of them and i make fun of him for it :-D)

The Ivies are all so different...anyone who views it as a strict US News hierarchy of similar schools is a fool.

jmarsh - they accept 63% Early Decision, so if you still feel that way in the fall you might consider it. (26% RD )

63 percent, thats not right, its more like 40-43 percent I believe.

Actually, this past year, roughly 40% were accepted ED and 24% were accepted RD. All together, Cornell's acceptance rate this past year is 26%.

Cornell's ED is a little easier than Princeton's ED, which is 30%....

i turned down penn, yale and columbia for cornell...wl harvard (that would have been the only difficult choice) then went on to harvard for law school...

I'm really considering cornell ed in the fall, if I can persuade my parents to go for it, that is. Of course, the only other colleges I've ever been to were Ithaca College and SUNY-Binghamton for concert band festivals, so Cornell is the first really prestigious one I've ever visited. I hope I don't feel this excited about every college I visit, or I'll never be able to decide on one.

By the way, how is Cornell's law school acceptance rate. I'm sure it's good, but does it have a good track record with getting students into well known schools? (because corharcol mentioned he went to Cornell, then Harvard LS)

Lots of people. I even know a kid who turned down Harvard to attend Cornell because it's cheaper (as a NYS resident). I know quite a few people who turned down Penn and Columbia to attend Cornell. One of my friends turned down Dartmouth.

Do reasonably well at Cornell (3.5 or better) and you will have your choice of excellent law schools. No one who graduates from Cornell does not get into law school.
