Yale is excellent for graduate music.

She's a pianist, classical.

USC is one of the top music schools if you like to play the tuba with a plastic helmet on and little cape... ;)

Guidez: Perhaps I read to much into your posts. BUT from personal experience, get used to defending USC.... everyone loves to hate on USC!!!! :)

LoL. Yeah agree with CA2006. EVERYONE loves to bash on USC. I mean, nothing against any Particular student there and I guess it's academics are not That Bad, but...well it's the University of Spoiled Children. =] 'nuff said.

Anyway, I find it very amusing how USC, for no apparent reason, is trying to buy up on nobel laureautes in hopes that it would make them better academically. Universities like Berkeley and Stanford (just to name a couple in CA) have a rich and distinguished history and this prestige draws in many of the most brilliant minds in the world. It's quite amusing how USC needs to resort to money to try to get some.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Money is a big factor; Harvard pays the highest just to keep the profs there.

well, I initially checked "yes" on the USC's enrollment form... only to cross it out and check "no" on the next day and send my SIR to Berkeley:D

i had a HUGE.. conflict with my parents and with myself. but Im going to Cal, so. YAY! and that is where i wanted to go. hope i made a right choice in turning down USC's TAP program (which guarantees acceptance to their pharmacy school if i keep over 3.0) and FSH. SC's not that bad. It's just that I thought I would be better fit at Cal in many ways. Also, the quality of the students who get into SC and Cal... it's just almost incomparable.

LoL These guys don't do it for the money; they have more than enough to last them their lifetime with their living styles.

Nobel Laureautes are among the best in their respective fields; if their minds were truely financially oriented, there would be no doubt they would've taken jobs that offer several times what they make as professors. Instead, these guys choose to immerse themselves in research, and what better place to dedicate themselves to the pursuit of knowledge than to go to a research university like MIT, Berkeley, and Stanford.

Now I'm not saying that money isn't a reason to stay. I'm just saying when it comes to Nobel Laureautes and where they choose to teach, their salary is near the bottom of that incentives list.

Yay Happyggal!! I Congradulate you on your fine decision!

I mean...who would want to be a Trojan when they could be a Bear. =D JK. I respect USC despite how much it appears I bash on it.

Anyway, See you at Cal! Awesome

It's true, lol, everyone loves to bash USC... :( But it is an awesome school. seriously! lol Well take care guys, have fun at CAL! I'll be seeing you all next time we beat your asses in football!

Didn't we win last year? Yeah...the game was at Cal. All the USC kids came and were celebrating before the game even started, while all the Berkeley kids were so forlorn that they just stayed in their dorms: didn't even want to watch that game. Then after triple overtime, all the Cal kids heard the cannon go off like 10 times in a row, and everyone ran outside screaming cause we won.

Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit: yeah but I admit USC football is better overall. Still...gotta love Berkeley's cannon.

yeah, the cannon and many, many other things about Cal sports.

guidez: you're a good sport, enjoy your school (it sounds like you will).

happyggal: you'll stay happy, trust me, you will have the time of your life the next 4 years!

Twilightzer, unfortunately that was three years ago. Our luck with USC hasn't been quite as good lately. But come next year we will march down to LA and destroy the trojans.

good luck with that gentlemanandscholar, you'll have to get past me. :)

we will, guidez, we will...

http://72.41.91.192/Cal/elementTedford2.jpg

lol CalX... I just made up a new element in my lab at home, it will be called USCium

Haha that'll be the day. Send us the press realease.

LOL.

hahaha yeahh, but even then, we're still one element ahead! Don't forget we have both berkelium and californium. Not to mention the 14 other elements discovered by UCB

USC only needs one element. we're that awesome.

Well, perhaps you could ask people if they will sell theirs. ;)

ucla...because i had an awesome time when i visited.
