Tuscaloosa's Weather

Anyone mind giving a brief description of T-town’s seasonal weather? How cold/hot does it get? Any essential clothing?

I appreciate the input.

T-town’s weather is random to say the least. I’ve been here when it is 12 degrees and when it is near 100. In winter, it is usually between 40 and 60 degrees. I’m from the Seattle area and I thought that I’d be escaping the rain; I’m not. We do get rain (bring an umbrella) and some thunderstorms. Generally though, the weather is pretty good, but you cannot just look out your window and judge the temperature. As for clothing, I do see a lot of Polo Ralph Lauren and The North Face being worn around on campus. That said, wear what you are comfortable in. If anything, UA clothing is always in style.

It’s wise to keep a small umbrella in one’s backpack for the “out of nowhere” rain that sometimes happens…It can be sunny when you walk into a building and be raining when you come out.

The temp can also be visually deceiving. You can look out a window and see it’s sunny, but then walk outside and it’s cold.

You’ll see a few kids trying to wear flip-flops and shorts as late as they can until they have to succumb to some real shoes and pants. LOL (Maybe they just don’t want to have to wash/mate socks!)

When I was there the weekend of the Florida game (the game wasn’t there), there were a couple of kids walking around in shorts and hoodies. Probably their last hurrah for shorts, since there was some wind that day, and most kids were wearing pants!

True…I think to get somewhat of an idea of what kids are wearing, you can look at a couple of those “Touching Lives” ads, which show kids on campus and in classrooms.

I should add…

My absolute favorite weather in Alabama is during the fall and during the spring.

Fall is beautiful - weather pleasant and the leaves are changing color.

Spring is beautiful - weather again pleasant and the trees are all blossoming with flowers.

Summer is hot, so thank goodness school is out for much of that. The crepe myrtles are blooming then. :)
