tutor problems!! neeeed help!!

Okay so i'm a junior and i just got my SAT, ACT, and PSAT scores all in this last week...
PSAT- 227
SAT- 2190
ACT- 33

At my school I will be one of the first National Merit Semifinalists we've had in a couple of years (more of a jock school) which is great but my SAT and ACT scores are not nearly as strong
Therefore I have decided to get a tutor for them simply because I KNOW that i can do better than those scores indicate and because i feel that i've done all the prep work that i can do on my own and gotten all i can out of the classes

but i dont know where to get a tutor!
everytime i try to ask one of my teachers to help me or one of my GCs to find me a tutor they laugh and refer to my PSAT scores and say i dont need one..basically nobody will tutor me because they think i already did well enough but 2190 and a 33 are not good enough for me to get into the school's of my choice
help i neeed to find a tutor or a convincing argument on why they should help me!

I actually would wait on the tutor...
if you had a 227, on your PSAT and you've only done one SAT since then your scores could easily go back up. I would self-study and retake in the spring and if the scores still aren't where you want them you still would have 6 months with the tutor. You should also try to college boards online course before a tutor.

Also... looking at the UC's SAT/ ACT conversion chart http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACT_(examination)
Your 33 is equivalent to a 2270 SAT which is what your PSAT was. so you really haven't gone down that much. and a 2190 isn't THAT much lower than a 227. it's in the same range, so going up should be pretty easy.
