tutor?

i scored a 28 both times that i took the act thus far (with no preparation) and want to go to nyu. i know that i will have to raise this to a 30+, so i decided i would try to find a tutor to help with this. i went to a huntington learning center and was alarmed to discover that for taking a diagnostic practice test, an evaluation, then a meeting to discuss the plan to help me improve would cost $195 (without a single tutoring session!). this seems absolutely outrageous, does anyone have any other suggestions as i really need to improve my score to get into nyu and am taking the october act. thanks!

just buy some practice test books from your local barnes and noble and practice... that's how you get a higher score

Yeah tutoring IMO is for the rich kid who doesnt give a ****, that has parents that spoon feed their child till they are 17

^ i agree.. just get a lot of practice tests and do them.. that's what I did... it took my 5 tests (about 25 hours of my life), but i eventually got my 35.. just study a lot for it.. that's the key

That price is ridiculous. Companies like PR do free practice test/strategy sessions and you can get some pointers that way, then either prep on your own or do a class or get a tutor. Do you know what your weak areas are? What have you tried already to do it on your own? A study buddy might be a good idea too.
