ooh. can I steal your strategy?
Btw, how are you distributing it to the "parents"? Mailboxes? (if so...do u know all of their addresses and such?)
Or are you posting your flyer in your HS (...ineffective?)
thanks!

I'd figure spreading by word of mouth would be most effective.

U know. talk to teachers see if they'll post their flyer in their classroom. the flyer is ineffective but I'm sure the teacher has some struggling students with some semi-prosperous parents. I get along with most teachers and I have a reputation for helpfulness and intelligence. I figure I will first talk to the teachers I am closest to and knows of my teaching ability and sorta divulge my plan and se eif they know of anyone who wants a tutor. Also ask him/her politely that if they ever find out about anyone who wants a tutor, to give em my flyer or have em call me.

also talk semi-large groups of friends about my plan. who knows? maybe them, a sibling or a friend will want a tutor.

Bringing this back!

I will be a babysitter and a tutor for a very wealthy family in a very wealthy area, for 4 children whose ages range from 10 to 17. One requires a little SAT prep, some just need a few questions answered about school homework every now and then, and they also need more structure/organization in regards to their homework and the home itself (Ex. Get their dinner warmed up before their parents are home).

I am a freshman in college in a BS/MD program with a lot of accomplishments and credentials including good SAT score, GPA, awards won, etc that to the average person, look amazing on a resume. (Trying to be as blunt as possible here…promise I’m not trying to be arrogant!)

Factoring all of this in, how much should I charge per hour during the week? Per hour during the weekend? Any input is greatly appreciated!

This thread is absurdly old…make a new one.

I think this really depends more on your area. I live in a pretty wealthy community, and most (professional, adult, often retired teachers) tutors charge upwards of $70 and hour. However, if you are seeking work in a more middle class area, you’ll certainly want to charge less. Tailor your fees to your potential consumers.

I’m a volunteer tutor. So nothing for 2-4 hours each week of Honors Geometry and Honors Algebra 2

I’m in high school and I get away with $50-100 per hour (maybe less for group lessons) depending on the subject and level. I guess it helps that I’m extremely sexy as you can tell from my avatar.
