in my area, just about everybody gets an SAT tutor. i got one to help on CR and the essay, and i met with her for a while, but honestly i dont feel like she did much of anything, except force me to do the work. i'm taking the test again in june and for those who have done well, i was just wondering if you thought i should go back to meeting with my tutor or just force myself to do a lot of practice. mostly i've heard of people doing well because they're either good at these tests or they just did endless practice.
any advice is appreciated

I believe it is wise to study very hard on your own, while recieving help from tutors. If tutors present no help at all, in your opinion, just work hard and climb yourself up to your goals.

You should work out some practice tests on your own, but if you have doubts regarding problems you could meet with the tutor once or twice just so that you can clarify all questions. Beyond that I see no use for a tutor, unless your seriously think you can't get yourself to work on your own.

yeah i think i'll just end up forgetting her, or maybe meet with her once to not offend her

I doubt she'll be offended if your just honest with her, " I'd rather study on my own" or you could make up some lame excuse " I won't have time to come back...ever" lol. You can save the money you would pay to her to go back a last time and use it to buy more pratice books.

Yeah, I agree with megaman, I'd rather just let her know that you can't make the time commitment and it would probably be much more convenient for you if you studied on your own. Plus, you have the extra money to buy any study materials.

I always say "We've got financial troubles...."
and then they go all.. "ohh.. that's too bad.. come back when you and your family's ready. Goodluck"
