I was just wondering. To those who have doubles or triples, did you and your roommate/s bring separate television sets? I mean, I can imagine the difficulty of watching different shows at the same time. Or is this not a problem at all?

Usually you coordinate before moving in who is going to bring the TV. You really only need one. Also, chances are your roommate is not bringing one. I bought one here for my room.

First check and make sure that your allowed to have a TV before you go out and buy one... some colleges have rules against TVs in dorm rooms.

Well my Monitor doubles up as a TV, so thats what I'll be using. Hopefully my roomate will bring a TV for himself.

I hope this doesn't sound too cheesy, but do they get easily stolen? I'd like to bring one (getting a Sony Bravia as a graduation gift from a friend), but I'm afraid it'll get jacked, especially if it's light (LCD).

Does you school have a lot of instances of theft? If so, you chances are greatert that it could get stolen, but if you and your roomie lock the door when no one is in the room, it shouldn't be a problem. Besides, TVs are cheap; theives would rather have your computer.

At my school, most bring two separate TV's b/c they watch different programming.

At my school both bring one...between other friends and TVs in lounges, you are bound to find SOMEONE watching your show, if there is a conflict of interest. I think two TVs is mostly a waste of space.

Or you can just both download the tv shows in digital format off your college network or through torrents.

I brought my own. Good thing I did because my roomate hates watching sports and I pretty much always have ESPN or some other sports network on.

A good thing I would recommend is one of those computer TV tuners that plug directly into the cable. I bought one through Dell when I got my new comp and now I don't need to waste any space with a TV. Me and my friends watch TV on my comp all the time. Plus it allows you to record programs as well as pause and rewind live TV.

I didn't bring one, and my roommate didn't either. I really didn't miss it, as I'd be at my friend's watching TV a couple times a week, and the cafeteria had the news on.

I think it would be silly to have more than one TV in the room, because of space and noise. Just take turns picking what to watch, and chances are your roommate won't even be there the times you are.

Most dorm rooms are small and cluttered, even smaller especially if you are of the male contingent... Bring one or get a laptop tuner.

thanks everyone! :)
