TV Shows?

Instead of reading for-fun books this summer (lack of funds + a non-interest in most of the books left that I haven't read), I've been catching up/starting TV shows. I finished How I Met Your Mother, I'm about to be done with the Big Bang Theory, and am now looking for suitable entertainment. It doesn't have to be similar to those two, just anything entertaining--and preferably will be returning next season, although not a necessity.

And/or what are your favorite TV shows and why?

two and a half men

because its really funny, plus it’s got charlie sheen

smallville

its gotten dry lately as the season ended but i have been watching it since i was 8

supernatural

really interesting topic on god, devil, and us humans into a horror show every night

thats all i watch on t.v

Mad Men
Breaking Bad

Seinfeld

Frasier

Heroes
House

The Office

Ghost Whisperer –> Any good sport who’s had a crush on Jennifer Love Hewitt since forever has to endure her awful tv shows to see her

If we assume you’re pirating and can obtain old tv shows:
Friends
Boy Meets World (really only worthwhile if you watched them back when they were original and want to reminiscence)
Futurama
That 70’s Show
Lost –> although I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of it =). So you either decided to watch it or not.

PS, you should catch up on movies too.

Community, Criminal Minds, Psych

topanga, corry matthews, eric, and mr feeney! i totally forgot about boy meets world… i am gonna buy the complete set on dvd right now

Burn Notice
24

Yep, BMW took up a good chunk of my childhood.

Unfortunately, seasons 4-7 were never released on DVD. They are available on piratebay, although downloading those rips is illegal so I can’t recommend it.

Torrent downloading in general can be legal, though. So if you’ve never done it I’ll outline the steps for other legal downloads:

download utorrent or a similar client
google or find a database with legal torrents for download
download and use peerblock to avoid unwanted connections with certain IPs

I have a guilty pleasure in trash reality shows.
The trashier, the better.

Bad Girls Club

I Love Money (shame Vh1 won’t air the two new seasons because one of the cast members went nuts and murdered someone and then commited suicide. )

Real World/Road Rules Challenge

Basketball Wives

Operation Repo

Smashing Gun’s World’s Dumbest

Hell’s Kitchen

Kitchen Nightmares

Real Housewives of New York and Atlanta

True Life

Pretty Wicked

Jerseylicious

My poor, poor brain cells. They regularly plead for mercy.

The Life and Times of Tim.

It’s an HBO show but I watch it online…it is absolutely hilarious especially if you’re into other animated shows (but i think its better than family guy, the simpsons, etc.)

Also, I recommend True Blood (another HBO show) it’s going into its third season now and the drama is really intense.

Glee- The best show on TV right now. Unbelievable singing, great choreography, awesome storylines, and great acting.

The Secret Life of an American Teenager- Great storylines and the show is believable.

King of Queens- Great show with a lot of awesome episodes. Without Jerry Stiller, this show wouldn’t be as good.

Seinfeld- I can watch the shows over and over. The shows never get old and will make you laugh every time.

Everybody Loves Raymond- The show can get old from time to time with the same themes, but the show is great.

Curb Your Enthusiasm- Sorry Jerry, but this is the best sitcom ever.

Glee!
i love glee

and lockup and what would you do. i hate how they only put like four episodes of that show a season.

I forgot Gilmore Girls.
Although I’m one of the few guys I know that watched it back then.

The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Lost, The Office, Scrubs, Nip/tuck, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Grey’s Anatomy, Gossip Girl, Firefly, Felicity, Dollhouse, Dexter, Damages, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, Arrested Development, Bones, Alias, 30 Rock, Breaking Bad, The United States of Tara, Boston Legal, Modern Family…and others

FOOTBALLLL

the end

P.S. WOW, considering the average American watches 4 hr TV/day, some of you guys rank in the 90th percentile. Very impressive

4hrs/day would be anywhere from 28-56 shows watched per week, assuming most shows air 1x/wk.

No one here listed more than 28 shows, although I’m sure many people watch sportscenter, news, etc., and didn’t list it.

I watch private practice, and did watch greys but I don’t think I am going to anymore. I also watch gossip girl, secret life, make it or break it, and greek. I loved the deep end but it was canceled. :frowning: Gossip girl is definitely my favorite. I just started watching it during finals and got caught up already.

I watched two whole seasons of the office in like three days and still can’t decide if I like it.

Otherwise, I watch say yes to the dress, bridezilla, my fair wedding, and ghost whisperer, but not regularly or anything. That’s just something I flip on for background noise.

i watch approximately 3 hours of t.v a week, most of my time is spent thinking about doing homework, and procrastinating by going out with friends and not actually doing my homework

I’m surprised no one mentioned south park. There are some great episodes. Margaritaville is great in describing the financial crisis. The Towelie intervention is such a great rip on the real show. It’s comedy central’s best show. Chapelle’s show is a classic. Lost is good because all the episodes are online. The Hard Times of RJ Berger is decent. Friday Night Lights is well acted and has good directing. I don’t think there are many good sitcoms left. House is the good version of Grey’s Anatomy. Obviously That 70s Show. I think the older shows are better than some of the new ones stations are pushing.
Intervention is at times really fun to watch. I don’t think Addicted is that good. Some of my sisters are really into say yes to the dress and what not to wear, it’s always on in the house. Apparently they’re both really addicting.
South Park is by far my favorite show. There are some great parodies, a lot of the episodes are very smart, and it suits my sense of humor. Plus it offends a lot of people, especially celebrities they rip on.
