TV Tuner?

I am headed to college next year and for my graduation gift I am building a desktop. Yes I know the desktop v. laptop stuff, and I do have my current laptop I will bring for mobility reasons. I just want a desktop for its power. I am building a decently powerful one (i7, lots of ram, GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB video card) and want to duel boot windows 7 and ubuntu 10.04. I want to be able to set up a schedule to record my shows to my pc to watch later. I know of Hulu and use but, but some shows like the Big Bang Theory aren't on it. What type of TV tuner would you recommend? should I get a card or usb one? also I've heard stuff about wireless or normal cable connection? What one would be best for a dorm situation? I would like it to be compatible with both windows 7 and Ubuntu, and also not cost a fortune. Does anyone know of one?

sorry, too many questions there, lol.

Thanks

In a dorm, I’d definitely do wired. Generally, the wired is more reliable than the wireless connection (definitely true here) and unless you have wireless n, most research universities’ wireless connections are nowhere near as fast as their wired bandwidth (wireless g gets 54mbps max, while a wired CAT6 connection gets 100+ here). I’d definitely go wired, but I’d consider a wireless card if you plan on moving into an apartment/house next year, as not every living arrangement off campus will have an ethernet port for every room.

As for a TV tuner, unfortunately I don’t know much about those so I have to hand it off to someone else.
