Anyone bringing a TV to college, particulary to their dorm rooms? Just wondering if theres a large problem with theft etc at most schools. I'm looking for recomendations for models toooo. thanks

I am most likely bringing a TV and fridge. I am sure there are theft problems at colleges, but taking a television and hiding it might be an issue, although I am sure there are people who get away with it.

I am prolly going to bring a 17-19" TV.

I am thinking of bringing a 52'' plasma to put on the wall. Maybe put some surround sound in the back.

dang, i'd love to be your roomate :)

Don't bring any TV to college that you wouldn't mind being stolen :(

I've got one of those small 13" cube TV's. REally hard to watch though.

I'd recommend one of those nice 21" LCD/TV's that can be used as a computer monitor too. I'd also recommend a really long bike lock to secure it to your bed or something!!

I am not bringing a tv (thats what the lounge is for).

I will however have the video in on my computer (and the fact that I download the two TV shows I watch so its not a huge issue).

I was thinking about bring my little TV w/ a built in VHS player, but the theft problem... What about one of those TV tables that you can lock?

chad room with me.
haha.
did you get your housing app yet?

a 52 inch plasma with bunny ears would be great.

just dragging the 27" that I have in my bedroom right now, that is..if I have my own car that is big enough to carry all my stuff.

Of course not. I don't know what's taking them so long. I guess since we've already sent $400 to them they feel that they can keep us waiting a long time.

There's gonna be theft everywhere....to what extent depends on the school.

I'm probably gonna buy one of the less expensive 13/19 inch DVD/TV combos from Sam's. Sure, a big 'ole plasma would be nice, but space is a problem, and I don't want a 5k dollar TV getting trashed.

Alright so i'm hearing either a plasma or a 19in tv haha. I'm actually looking at like a 23 inch LCD tv. Is that a bad idea? I figure with the money i get from graduation i might as well have a little fun but of course i dont want it to get stolen. is it easy to lock that sort of thing up? I mean do you have to do it with your computer monitors?

I'm taking a little 13 inch one.
Anyone know the download situation at your school? I know some people get busted for downloading music, some i'm worried that tehy will track my downloading and find out that I like to d/l the occasion grey's anatomy.

wow that show got ridiculous. surgeons don't really screw around like bunnies or rabbits or whatever in the real world. i watched every show until the sixth episode but then it got ridiculous. and yeah you can find some good lcd tv's that double as monitor to comp for a relatively good price on ebay and other sites/stores. thats what i'd personally do.

I've seen public safety logs in school newspapers (Ithaca comes to mind, but I'm not sure) that included warnings/citations for downloading music/video! One of them wasn't caught through the network, but someone actually turned someone in for downloading!!

Some schools block it. When I did a summer program at W&L I couldn't get any P2P softwqare to work. Apparently there were ways around it, but they violated the honor code!!

yea...i got busted for dling episodes of grey's anatomy/scrubs

definitely not safe to do on campus anymore

first time at my school was a slap on the wrist

second time results in terminated internet for the rest of the time there

truly not nice people :-)

where do you go to school?

Thats strange as broadcast TV episodes are a very gray area legally. The commercials have been stripped but the shows are available over the air free of charge and it is essentially like using a Tivo.

It sounds more like a violation of school policy. What method of sharing were you using and how much bandwidth did it take up? Thats what causes schools to catch notice.
