I don't have a whole lot of volunteer work , i have short stints I've done here and there and at my school for requirements / for fun..I plan on doing a lot more during this school year as well.

Im open to both private and public schools, although I'd slightly prefer going to a bigger school over a smaller one. I'd also prefer being in a more urban setting versus cornfields in the middle of nowhere haha. Financial Aid / Scholarship is almost a necessity to me having one unemployed parent and the other making the yearly total of around $65,000. I could live without partying in college haha (I'm speaking to the womens soccer coaches at these schools to see if i can tryout as a walk on and if not I plan on joining any intramural / club teams)

Since I'm really passionate about soccer and sports in general hoping to do pre med (I haven't really come to a conclusion on the major probably neuroscience , kinesiology, or something along those lines. I want to specialize in sports medicine probably as a physical therapist or something along those lines)

I realize that! What exactly do you mean by directional? Like more focused based on what I want to do? I’ve shifted my focus from athletic training / physical therapy to neuroscience & neurobiology so I feel like the colleges I should be looking at will change too.

I’m just not sure where to consider, but thanks!

If your income is $65,000 a year, are you able to afford the $40,000+ a year for Wisconsin? Same with Loyola.

Look at UIC, NIU and SIU as financial safeties. If you can bring up your ACT by at least one or two points, apply to uIllinois as well. Otherwise uChicago is high reach.

Ahh I see packalldwy…I’m hoping to receive at least some type of aid to help reduce that 40k price tag so we’ll see. I’m not interested in UIC, NIU or SIU at all, but will put in my applications there as safeties. I’m only really applying to 5-10 schools, so I’d rather them be places I actually would want to go to.

Based on my stats anyone know of any schools that I could consider as a safety or match/ target school out of state as well?

Looking back, my comment seemed sorta rude so I apologize for that.

Loyola is a safety for you. Colleges like University of Minnesota (cheaper than UIUC!), Michigan State University and Indiana University are all targets for you.

Thank you so much for your input andd no need to apologize haha I just took it as you being blunt (which I very much appreciate)

So my list is looking a lot like this:
University of Wisconsin - Madison
Loyola University Chicago
University of Chicago
University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign
Michigan State University
University of Michigan
University of Illinois - Chicago

and a couple that i’m still on the fence about:
Boston College
Boston University (I think BC is a little more competitive than BU)
Penn State University
University of Viriginia
St John’s University - Queens
Colgate University (not sure why but it interests me but idk if its worth applying to)

Oh man, I have all those colleges on my list to apply to! UVA is a reach only because it accepts so few OOS students. Penn State should be a target but again, it’s $40,000 a year as well.

Wow ! Any idea what you’re looking to major in? And hmmm thanks I might be putting to much hope in receiving a lot of merit scholarships / financial aid (living with both parents one is unemployed, 6 family members in the household, etc.)

I want to add College of the Holy Cross to the list, but I’m not sure. Seems like tuition would be up there in the 40k range again right? Also I’ve been seeing quite a few posts by HC alumn…not sure whats prompting it.

Villanova would be too high of a reach for me wouldn’t it ?

I was looking at Pre Med but I’m not so sure anymore.

The University of Alabama gives out great scholarships. You would automatically qualify for the Honors College and you would get $3500 a year for four years. If you can bring up your ACT to atleast a 30, they’ll pay 2/3’s of your out of state tuition.
