Twice was not the charm!!!!!!!!!

Thanks atlantamom and achat. I guess I'm feeling a little sadder about it today than I was yesterday - a sort of what-might-have-been feeling. He loved the kids that he hung with in the dorm during his overnight and we both loved the school. It's a wonderful place. On the other hand he's got some excellent choices and he knows he's a fortunate guy.

I'll miss meeting you all at parents weekend:( My best wishes for the remainder of your children's years at Swat.

And to those new acceptees--congratulations and have a fantastic four years!!!!!!!!!

andi

Hi andi,

I just got on the Swat board for the first time in a couple of days . . .I am disappointed for andison, and wish that Swarthmore had recongized what is all too obvious to all of us!! He would have been a great fit there. I know he will be happy at MIT (I assume that is the choice) but I know this is a hurt. S1 felt like that when he got rejected at his top choice but he is so happy at Brown. Andison will be a real asset to his school, and I look forward to such great things for him!!
Love ya,

Momofthree

Awwwww thanks momofthree. andison says he felt more sympatico with the kids at Swat than at any other school. He loved the campus, the courses and everything about the place. The one exception to that, he said, is the admissions office. ""They're f_____ up"" he said. Guess I can see how he'd feel that way :D :D

Although I didn't follow the story last year, I'm so sorry andi and son :(. A full ride at Brandeis and an acceptance to MIT though...he's no slouch, that's for sure. I wish both of you the best, I don't doubt that he'll be great at whatever he chooses to do.

Very surprised!
I thought they would see your son's special qualities in his sitting it out and re-applying.
They may possibly have some policy about accepting a student after rejecting them the year before. Personalities in admission offices do come in to play with these things.

Let us know about Yale at Five:)

Hey NPI he had received permission to re-apply so it wasn't a policy issue. But you may be right about the personality aspect. They probably should have said 'sure you can re-apply but be aware- we don't like you' lol

Thanks for the kind words Pitcher! I hope you have a fantastic four years. Drop into the CC Swat thread now and again and let us know how it's going!
andi

andi, I think his choices are wonderful without Swarthmore and I am so pleased for both of you.

Thanks. Of course they are. We're just doing a little kvetching here :)

Andi - congrats to your son on all of his other acceptances! I remember your story from last year, and am so happy to know that he, a very deserving candidate, finally got to taste some sweet acceptances. And the second time around, ha, it is a little funny regarding Swat. But once again, I feel relieved for the both of you; I'm glad things are working out!
