So, I'm a guy who is interested in reading the book series and eventually watch the movie.
I'm an AVID Muse fan, and I've read that the series is BASED heavily on my FAVORITE BAND. It's true, every paragraph I read I can relate to a MUSE SONG. I've felt like the hype is too much and the author took A LOT of the CONCEPT from MUSE.
So, in order to better understand the series, I will read the books. I'm sure I'll like them, the only thing I'm a bit bugged is that very few people actually know about this even though the author thanks Muse heavily in the end of each book.

I want to see what this hype is all about, it reminds me a lot of when Harry Potter first came out and when movies with hot actors too (like when Titanic Came out all the girls were like "OMG Leo!")
I'm sure the hype will die down in a few years, lol

About the movie though, I don't think I'll like it very much, I saw a few trailers and the make-up look kinda bad, I could see the strings when someone flew by, etc.
I didn't like the production values (I'm a cinema fan too, I like well-produced films)
And I believed the acting was not as good as it could've been, then again i haven't seen it so I shall see.

Also, the main thing that bugs me is that MUSE only got one SONG, and Matthew Bellamy (main guy of Muse) was ORIGINALLY going to compose some music for the film but basically got told a "No"

Anyways, those are my opinions, feelings and thoughts for now.

Anyone else?

I use my one and only Twilight book as a $15 drink coaster. That should sum up my feelings.

just one more reason why radiohead is better than muse

I’m a radiohead and Muse fan

so I won’t argue

love them both
'but Muse is slightly higher on my list just cause I met them first

wow, I did not know all that about the Muse references. I wrote an article about Twilight for my school newspaper where I basically said it was anti-feminist and pretty terrible.

well i don’t know anything about muse but i can comment on the books/movie :D

ok, so basically for the past year my friends have all been like ‘AHH, TWILIGHT!’ and then they would give me the plot of the book & i was just like…no. but then when i heard they were making a movie i was like okay i guess i’ll TRY reading it. & i pretty much couldn’t stop cause i loved it
i mean, i consider myself a pretty intelligent reader & everything, & despite the fact that stephanie meyer isn’t a great writer & the story-line isn’t even all that great…i just became completely invested in the characters & everything. srsly, i want the cullens to adopt me…
anyhoo, after seeing the movie, i hatehatehate that kristen stewart was cast as bella. i think her acting is horrible 99% of the time, ughhh. robert did slightly better [trying to be un-biased considering how much i love him…].
yeah, i could pretty much go on all day, LOL. but i guess i’ll try to stop it there :)

To elsaphant:
I haven’t read the book but I can tell u that Muse is not anti-feminist!
By the references I mean the CONCEPTS, SETTINGs, CHARACTERS, AND SOME PLOT is DIRECTLY based on Muse songs. In the end Stephanie Mayer says how much she thanks Muse which made me think “I wonder…”

I read a few lines, paragraphs, and the plot overview

The WHOLE CONCEPT of mind reading in love is based off Muse’s song “Bliss” which is about the ability to find joy in someone else’s mind.
The Romance is also heavily based on Muse songs, songs like “Endlessly” or “Plug In Baby” “Supermassive Black Hole” among others can defer to the PLOT

To smarteenangel101:
Yeah, I’ve heard all the hype and I really want to know how it is.
First trailer I saw of the movie I was like “This looks low-budget” I mean You could see make-up flaws all over! and the strings when somoen flew/jumped, come on man!

Now that u mentioned the acting, I also got that impression like “Couldn’t they get better actors? I mean, I know u have to have an image, but it doesn’t have the acting awesomeness it deserves”

Oh, well, if u ever come across a Muse CD, listen to it… you’ll see how it’s related.
Sometimes I even felt like it was copied, which would be lame…

If I understood correctly, she wrote a book based on the songs of a band? Do the songs have glittering men in it?

No, they don’t.
The songs are in concept albums.
Concepts, story-lines, characters

are derived from them

Bella’s personality is referred from a song called “Unintended”
and I think Edward’s cullen is derived from “Bliss” “Hysteria”

I enjoy Twilight for a fun read, not anything of literary merit. I actually love the movie more than I like the books. I think the craze about it is solely based on Edward’s non-clicheness. At that comment, most will beg to differ. But if you think about it, Edward’s “not always nice,” sarcastic character is a big change from love interests in movies and books. Besides the fact of being a vampire, Edward is different in the sense that most heroes guys are automatically charming, polite, sweet, etc… Girls swoon at mystery, at the guys they know they could never get.

I actually loved Kristen Stewart as Bella, but I saw the movie before I read the books, if that makes any difference. I loved Kristen because she played the part so well–she was nothing like other girls without being too much like the “Mia Thermopolis” type. Robert Pattinson, although I loved him in the movie, had more flaws in his acting than Kristen Stewart did.

New Moon is supposed to be as close as it can be to the novel, because of its new director and whatnot. So I have high hopes. We’ll see how that turns out.

Yes, the concept is pretty darn good but it’s not anything new, u can see that kind of love stories in theater, films, and other arts. The vampire twist adds to the mix.

I have to disagree with the acting, I think they could get better actors, somewhere along James Franco for the title male role.

The production values better go up. I mean seeing strings and bad make-up is pretty B-movie material. They have to spend some money to make money

I enjoyed all the twilight books!
However the movie was some what different from the book and i cant stand kristen stewart as bella she is a horrible actress and has such a big ego she serisouly thinks she is too good for twilight

Twilight is horrible.

^^haha, i completely agree about her idk, she acted the role SOOO differently than book bella, playing some tough chick or w/e. godd, it was weird…& omg, don’t even get me started on the hospital scene at the end. it was comical!! :(

oh yeah, haha the production was terrible. you’d think the most most popular book of the past few years would have a bigger budget, but no. plus, i didn’t really like the director, so i’m glad she’s out, LOL. i really hope the new guy will do a better job…

it’s basically just like…the most addictive book possible : D

Yeah, the new guy said he was planning to keep it as close to the book as possible. I’m really looking forward to the scene where Jasper like almost attacks Bella.

Bella’s sarcastic. She is kind of on the tougher side in the books, too.

James Franco would not make a good Edward to me. I love him to death, but he wouldn’t play a vampire role. And he would not pass at seventeen. Robert Pattinson in Twilight has a unique face that’s not stereotypical hot. That’s why he makes a good vampire.

Is it really?

Yeah, the production was really lame, I know three girls who hated the movie for the quality of the film and actors.

I don’t really like him, he’s too, IDK, show-off kind of thing.

At the Oscar’s he was so lame on his host skills…

There must be someone better, I just know it!

lol, i love that he’s not stereotypical hot. to me, he’s just gorgeous <33 : )

& idk, i see bella as overall pretty meek in the books. in the movie she had this strange permanent frown on or something. she acted half-asleep in most of her scenes…

Oh? I’d use the word “garbage” as a compliment for this one, honestly.

I see this as a “Love Twilgiht” Vs. “Hate/highly dislike Twilight”

and I’m like “I am interested”
