twins..

My identical twin sister and i are planning to attend the same college, we have semi-similar stats, although she has a slighly better GPA with a few more ap’s, and i have slightly better test scores and more leadership positions, but all in all i feel that she is a stronger candidate. Do you think that they will accept/reject both of us, or judge us completely individually? Like on the duke application they specifically ask you if you’re a twin or triplet. Does it matter?

I have no answer but that is a funny problem!

Hey collegeboardslave, I'm a twin, too!

I've almost got the same predicament, except I'm almost fairly sure that I'm the stronger applicant. However, we applied to different places early (me- Georgetown EA, him Tufts ED). So obviously, we're not set on going to the same school.

However, from what I've heard, they don't like to separate twins. They either accept or reject both. So either: your twin will get in, and in theory you wouldn't, but since you're twins, you will too. Or: Your twin would have gotten in, and you still wouldn't, and so they just reject both of you (assuming, of course, that your twin really is the stronger candidate). I would think, however, that the double acceptance is more common since the other way is just plain mean. :)

I could be totally wrong on this, but that's what I heard!

That's so cool! Twins.
I'm sure they'll take that into consideration and since your stats aren't so far apart, it shouldn't be that hard.

I don't know if there are specific policies, but you often see both twins get accepted at given a college. MIT accepted 3 or 4 sets of twins last year. Harvard has a set of twins enrolled in its current freshman class. The LA Times had an article several months ago about a set of triplets enrolled at Berkeley.

My guess is that if your stats are quite similar and they are willing to take one of you, they'll take both.

haha.. wouldn't it be great if i got into all of my top schools because my twin is the salutatorian, so the colleges are like "heck let's just take her sister too"?! i hope youre right calidan!

ps- isnt having a twin awesome?!

Calidan said (and I quote):
"I've almost got the same predicament, except I'm almost fairly sure that I'm the stronger applicant."

As Calidan's twin, I can tell you he is a liar. I am the stronger applicant. Don't believe his lies.

I must interject for my fellow future Hoya.. ;).. hehe, go Georgetown!! Hoya Saxa!

Jumbos are better than Hoyas any day...

Mmhmm... an elephant? Please. What a sorry excuse for a mascot.

LOL. J/K. And I really am the stronger candidate (thx Tlak).

In comparison:
SATs:
-me: 1410, him: 1400
SAT IIs:
-me 2260, him: 2120
GPA:
-me: 3.8, him: 3.7

PS- collegeboard, it's only SOMETIMES awesome having a twin. Hehe... :)

Actually, Georgetown's mascot is Jack the Bulldog. :-D..

haha.. i have 1420, she has 1410.. plus i was born first HA!

Haha! I was born first, too!

And see? He doesn't even know what Georgetown's mascot is... for shame.

a little flirting?

I'm a twin too!! It really is awesome being one, and only another twin could understand! Hehe Anyway, I hope what you guys are saying is true because my sister and I applied to all the same schools. Our stats are almost identical though and we do the all the same activities.
