I'm curious about this seeming fad of colleges and their admissions offices having Twitter accounts.

It seems to me that when Twitter started it was big with our age-group (the college applicants) but our parents' generation caught onto that and decided to ride the wave of the future by starting Twitter accounts. But today there don't seem to be that many students on Twitter so does anyone see a benefit of colleges and admissions offices even tweeting?
