Two alumni parents?

Both my father and [deceased] mother attended Stanford, and they both ended up teaching there for many years.

How much will this affect my chances of admission, if at all?

Lol have you ever heard of legacy?

Apparently legacy is just a “feather on the scale,” but it will help nonetheless. Not sure how having professors will help, but I’d imagine it would be at least a bit more.

Francaisalamatt-- yupp! I’m asking how it plays in in regards to Stanford admissions.

Rush10-- Thanks! (:

It’s like affirmative action, but only because your family’s had more privilege, not less. That is to say, it can help quite a bit. “Legacy preferences provide the equivalent of a 160 point boost on the math and verbal SATs, not the “tiebreaker” that many universities claim” ([Affirmative Action for the Rich - Room for Debate - NYTimes.com](Affirmative Action for the Rich - NYTimes.com)).

Yea it helps a lot
