Two B's on transcript

Hi everyone!

This is my first post and one of the reasons I joined this website. I was just wondering if I have a chance at this point to be admitted to an Ivy League like Harvard or Yale with two B’s on my transcript. Both these B’s were in my freshman year. One B was Algebra Honors (math is my weakest subject) and the other B is from Honors English. (Note that only about 10 people obtained an A in Honors English freshman year because we basically learned a new way of writing completely different from what was taught in middle school.) However, I know that is not an excuse but I truly did have a hard time in that class despite working hard. Anyhow, I know many other factors go into the application process and that this is a very hard question to consider. Besides those two grades I have gotten A’s in all my other classes. I have taken 11 AP classes and I have various leadership roles and I am a member of the Varsiy track team. I also have my own organization. The main focus of my application is going to be my passion for social work and my organization that helps others for that is what I spent most of my free time doing. I have about 600 hours of community service as well, but I didn’t do it for my resume. I did it because I loved helping people. I have done other things as well but this mostly sums it up. Also, my test scores meet the standards for the schools so maybe they will make up for those two low grades? (Even though B’s aren’t really all that bad.) I am also in the top 5% of my class if that information will impact the decision.

If you would like to know more information to answer please do ask and I will try my best to fully explain. I wasn’t sure how much I wanted to include in this question.

Thank you!

(Also, I realize that getting into Harvard or Yale is not what life is all about. I also had many great times in high school so it wasn’t like I just spent all my time studying.) Thanks for the feedback once again!

Yes

well, it will matter, but if your stats are good, then it doesnt matter. they dont look for all A’s, but if you got really high test scores, high ap scores, quality leadership roles and good Ecs, with good essays, a 3.9 gpa is not worse than a 3.92.

two b’s won’t hurt, i don’t understand why you think it will lmao
no one knows if you will get acceptance to Yale or Harvard, they are crapshoots for everyone unless your last name is obama.
also, what’s your sat score (if you mind me asking)?

It will not matter.

Okay thank you!

I just wasn’t sure considering how high the standards are. I thought that they only excepted straight A students for the majority. But thanks anyway! Btw I scored a 2320 on the SAT which I was rather surprised about considering I am not the best test taker. (That is a very weak spot of mine.) However, I practiced a lot and studied for about a year.
