Can you be enrolled in two community colleges at the same time? Say I want to take a class at De anza and another class at ohlone or evergreen valley college? Is that Okay with the community colleges?

of course. I did it. One of my friends was enrolled in 3 in one semester

I think it's very common.

how does this work with financial aid stuff. if the two community colleges are in different districts?

lol i go to two diff. colleges.... pain in the ass though

bluescreen11,

You have to submit your FAFSA to each one and pay the bill separately.

For the record, I ended up going to a total of 3 CCs before transferring.

BUT how do they count the unit when you apply to UC?

You can go to multiple but the financial aid part is sketchy. I go to college of the canyons, Valley college, and UCLA Extension. My main college is College of the canyons and they only give financial aid for the units I’m taking there. So even though I’m taking 17 units, they’ll only reimburse me for 8. I’ll have been to 6 different colleges in 2 years by this winter (I really wanted to transfer in 2 years and my registration dates always sucked).

i think the more units you completed the earlier the reg date, at least here at my college. Since you take like eight units a semester, it is natural that your reg date sucks.

By the way, you should go to your other colleges and get a letter that you are taking classes over there from the admissions office. with that letter you can go your financial aid office to show that you are actually taking 17 units to get more fin aid.

^oh, is THAT how you do it? When I had to split classes in 2008/09 I was told that the FAFSA could still be considered “full time” if I went to 12 units split over 2 CCCs but then cut my aid anyway. I always assumed it was bad advice on their part.

I’ve taken 1st semester 18, 2nd semester 18, 3rd semester 17 with units during winter/summer as well. My problem was that I couldn’t get all of them at 1 college so I have low registration dates :/

I am going to do the same this spring(I hope to get the classes I want).by the way, does anybody know how I can the BOG(tuition waived) at another CC without filling for the FAFSA?I’m already in the program at the school I been attending for past 2 years but here at the new school I’m trying to enroll, the people are not too helpful getting the program. :(

Next semester, I’ll be going to both Oxnard and Ventura college. As far as fin. aid, I have an Oxnard scholarship but not Ventura, so I have to pay for my Ventura courses.
On the application, if you attended more than on college, you’re able to list them all and report the courses you took at each one. The one thing you need to do is look at ASSIST.org and see the articulation agreement for your major, and see if there are any series of courses you need to complete at one CC or CC’s within the same district.
