Two different applicants... which is more likely to get in?

I think you are being distracted by focusing so much on how you compare to this person.

You are competing against around 30,000 other people, not this person. If you are both determined to be a better fit than 28,000 people, you will both get in.

Focus on your own ECs, maintaining your GPA and doing some ECs that really interest you. Then next year, focus on your essays.

May want to also look at how your SAT compares to accepted applicants.

Thank you @ccdaddio. It’s actually both of us who are focusing on how much we compare to each other, as we both agreed to post this post. But thanks for the advice! We will follow. :)

@texaspg, we haven’t taken SAT IIs or ACTs yet, but I mentioned that I got a 2000+ on my first SAT I and she got an 1800+! X

The accepted valedictorian got an 1800?

@texaspg, no, I meant my friend got an 1800. The valedictorian got a 2000+.

OP, I feel you focus too much on ‘who’ has a better chance. I don’t think anyone can tell you who has a better chance. Not even the individual admission officers because their admission process seems to be a collaboration of work, not an one person decision. Everyone has a chance if they apply but a very slim chance. I think you should focus on ‘what you can bring to Stanford’ and whether Stanford is truly a school you love.

Thanks findmoreinfo! :)
