Hi,

I'm an international student (UK), and need to book my SAT IIs for June...thing is, I'm still not 100% sure which to choose.

I certainly want to take Math IIC and World History - and would feel most comfortable taking U.S History too, only I keep on reading (in relation to taking Math IC & IIC together) that taking two tests from one subject isn't ideal.

Coming from the UK, none of the tests are anything like how we?re assessed here (multiple choice for any subject ?!?) - even the SAT II Literature test seems grossly americanised for style etc. ( ;-p ). I currently take German, but feel the stress on grammar in the tests would be too different to our more liberal ?try it and see? attitude to languages. Math IIC is again nothing like here, but I'm determined to manage (it'll only bolster my course here). After that, I'm kind of out of further options having not taken any sciences or any of the remaining subjects offered.

The other thing that directs me to taking two histories (despite the broad nature of your syllabi being again nothing like ours) is my passion for the subject - I know I want to take the field as my career, and would certainly want to take it an university. Being honest, learning about the history of the world and of the U.S (something not covered here (like slavery or imperialism) since 1776) would be a joy - a positively pleasurable experience. Actually, I've already made a good start on the material with the SAT II books I purchased on the topics as 'general interest stimuli' as a precursor to further study.

So, I would very much like your advice. Would I be doing myself a disservice in terms of the applications process by choosing two histories...enough to warrant my fervently learning 'der Konjunktiv' inside out or americanising my linguistic style - just to equal a score I'm fairly confident I could get though furthering my passion?

Very grateful for your thoughts.

Thanks,
