Do you find yourself trying to foster an identity of yourself that you think is authentic, but never really know whether or no it is? Do you ever think you'd live your life differently if you were alone?

I had like 30 different AIM screenames for the sake of being another person.

And to creep on my friends c: Actually, that was probably the main reason why I made so many AIM accounts.

My authentic self is to be anyone but myself.

I don’t know who I am.

Isn’t this an obvious question? Would you live your life differently if beef didn’t exist? Would you live your life differently if there were constantly 30 people in the same room as you?

“Would you live your life differently if beef didn’t exist?”

Lol what?

I feel like I have a switch.

At school and work, I can turn it on and I’ll be the outgoing, hyper-friendly girl who’s friends with everyone and smiles all day. But the minute I get home, I crash. I’ll be extremely irritable and exhausted. When my parents come home, they often wonder how I even manage to have friends with my terrible attitude :(

I wish I could stay “on” all day and night, but I guess I don’t have that kind of energy. And unfortunately, my parents always end up getting the short end of the stick.

So to answer your question, no, I’m aware of who I am, but yes, I have two identities.

^^^No beef?! What a cruel world it would be.

^^ Same with me.

Also, I think we’d all like to believe that we are “ourselves” and simply a single, flawed, human identity, but I’m partial to the idea that people have at least 2 identities. Because what you do and etc. is different in different circumstances…like being at school, around friends, at home, alone, etc.

I know a guy who pretended to be a girl for SIX years on an online internet forum. Plus, he got the girl involved in insane flame wars, where the girl intentionally acted like a *****y Aspie and promoted ideologies such as anarcho-communism. It was so fun to watch.

Anyways, I have a Reddit account where I pretend to be a girl and ask the most awkward questions ever. ;)

But I’ve also pretended to be a duck, a seagull, a cute asian girl, a parrot, and various other entities. But I always end up revealing myself cuz I want people to see what I’ve done :p

And whenever I play video games, I always play female avatars.

Such commitment should be applauded.

^ Meh, we’ve all done that. Right? O_o

This is completely irrelevant, but when I came across this thread title on the first HSL page, I had the biggest deja vu.

Anyway, I feel that I would be far less sane if I were deserted or alienated or otherwise simply lived alone.

Hey, I’m an anarcho-communist >:O

haha I should have done the false gender thing while I had the chance.

^ I think a lot of us would have fallen for it.

No offense (I sincerely thought you were a girl at first :c).

CelaPlusAimaple is a boy?

Yeah I thought CelaPlusAimaple was a girl at first too - girls are often more obsessed with French than boys are.

^ me too…

^^ Francaisalamatt? :b

fwiw, people thought Mapleleafs26 was a girl too, and I used to think lifegr, Millancad, TheyCallMeCC, and even fairy_dreams (in my defense, I thought she was a girl at first, but she had a very masculine posting style, so I started thinking I was stereotyping this person by his name, which was unfair) were all guys

Just so everyone knows, I’m a girl.
