Hey guys!!
So, I got my schedule on Friday, and something I never even imagined would happen when I got my schedule, happened. :(
I'll be a Junior, and this is my schedule this year.

First Semester.
AP US History
AP English III
Yearbook
Honors Chemistry

Second Semester.
AP Psychology AP Statistics
Yearbook Honors Pre-Calculus

So, as you can see, there's kinda a problem with my second semester schedule. I'ma go talk to both teachers, and even my Algebra 2 teacher to see what she thinks, but I honestly hatee the idea of two math classes in one semester. I do have Yearbook all year though which is a class where I won't be doing anything, and math is probably my best subject.
My math grades have been a 99 in Algebra I, and 100's in Honors Geometry and Honors Algebra II, but I'm worried about the homework. I don't want hours and hours of homework everryyyy night. So, if you were me, what would you do? Is it worth getting a schedule change over, orr should I just stick with it.

If you are not positive that you want this, stick with one math class, preferably Honors Pre-Calculus so you can do AP Calculus next year. Taking 2 honors/AP math classes at once requires a lot of dedication, so if you hate the idea, try replacing AP Stats with another class second semester. That will not reflect poorly on you at all in college admissions.

However, a lot depends on the teachers- if they are known to be easy and not assign a lot of homework, you’ll probably be fine.

What class would you replace it with? If Math is your best subject and you got such great scores, it seems like this is do-able, especially with your funky different-classes-each-semester schedule. Yearbook and AP Psych shouldn’t take /too/ much time. I’m taking Honors Algebra 2 and Geometry together right now, which granted is much easier than this pair-up, but still.

But if you just don’t like math the subject and don’t want to spend so much time working on it, sure, switch AP Stat out-- but not for something like Underwater Basketweaving or HomeEc. ;)

I understand your concern. However, a lot of people I know (and even myself) double up on math classes. If math is your best subject, why wouldn’t you want another math class? Plus, I’m pretty sure AP Stat is supposed to be one of the easier AP classes, so it shouldn’t be a huge burden to you.

@MWcollege12:
I want another math class; I’m just not sure that I want them both in the same semester. It’s honestly mostly the homework that I’m worried about. I never expected two math classes where I’ll for sure be getting at least an hour of homework from each in the same semester. All the people I know that have doubled up got Pre-Calc one semester and Statistics the other.

If I change my schedule, I’d only ask for the guidance counselor to move AP Statistics over to this semester (switch out either USH or English to next semester.) And I do like math; I don’t love it, but I prefer it to English. So, like you said, it’s something I could probably do. Your post has given me a bit more reassurance, cause a guidance counselor did tell me that Psychology would probably be easy, and I realize that there are people out there that have more than just 4 classes at a time, so my situation doesn’t seem as bad as that. And at this point, I would love it if my school had a class like Underwater Basket-weaving. Hahhahh.

The reason I’m reluctant is because I haven’t heard too many good things about the Pre-Calculus teacher I’ll be having. Compared to my previous two math classes, it seems like his class will be a bit harder. As weird as it may sound, I’m actually more worried about Pre-Calc than Statistics, hahah.

Junior year I will double up on math classes for the whole year (IB Math HL and AP Calc AB).
If you really don’t want to have two math classes on the same semester, try to switch one math with English for US Hist.

I took AP stats and pre-calc both as year long classes in the same year, and didn’t have a problem with it, granted a larger chunk of your homework will be math. If you are good at math or enjoy it you’ll do fine.

That’s intense; I can’t even imagine. Hahahha

That’s good to hear. The extra homework stiill sounds horrible for me, but I’ll get it done, so it won’t be a huge problem, like you said. Thanks!
