- When do colleges receive FAFSA? I submitted my FAFSA January 1 but none of my colleges have checked it off as completed. These colleges also require the CSS and I haven't filled it out yet which brings me to my next question...
- What do I do if colleges require the CSS to be submitted by February 15 but my parents' employers won't be giving them their 2014 W-2s (so they can't file their 2014 taxes) before that date?
^1. You could contact the school.
2. You could use the estimated numbers on the CSS.
@4kidsdad Thank you!
Employers are required to mail W-2 forms by January 31.
- Don't bother the school's yet, they'll pull it when they're ready. You still have your priority date of 1/1.
Remember that fafsa gives you federal aid but the schools cannot come up with a financial package for you until they have the CSS form for their own institutional aid. Why do you say you are able to do fafsa now but not CSS? FAFSA uses the W-2 also.?
@BrownParent CSS has a separate section for 2014, but you could file FAFSA with 2013 alone. I just finished submitting CSS with 2014 estimates instead as I won’t get W-2s in time for Emory’s February 1st deadline.
Your 2015-2016 FAFSA should have been filed with estimated 2014 tax numbers, if the 2014 taxes weren’t yet done. Once the 2014 taxes are complete, you will need to update FAFSA if anything changed.
