Two questions: Cheque / Delivery

Hi guys,
as the thread title suggests, I have two questions:

most colleges require cheques to be sent with the application. Where I live, however, cheques are not really common, so I don't know if I'll be able to draw one (I have yet to go to the bank). Did you guys use cheques, how did it go, were there any problems? Let me know!

because I'm terribly late with my applications (as usual) and I don't trust our postal system, I was thinking about sending my apps with either DHL or UPS (or maybe FedEx, although they seem to be rather expensive). Would that create more work for colleges (because they usually have to sign some forms when they receive it) or is there any other reason why sending with DHL/UPS could be inadvisable?

Thanks for your answers.

Alex

I sent my app through DHL. I dont think its much of a problem. Many colleges have different address for courier services, though.

Regarding the cheques:
Colleges will only accept them if they are drawn on an American bank (do you have a bank account in the US?). Otherwise you would have to pay the application fee with different means: credit card (online application), money orders...

Oh, that's very helpful, thank you! No, unfortunately I don't have a US bank account...
