Two questions..for the cadets/anybody

When did you all apply for the MOCs' nominations? During your senior year?

And..what was your ACT score if you took it or does the SAT look better to the academy?

(how many pushups can you do?)

Thanks for any help

Our daughter applied for her MOC nominations in late May of her Junior year. My advice would be to get your application for nomination in as early as you can, following the MOC's instructions TO THE LETTER. I would also advise taking BOTH the ACT and the SAT and as many times as you can. There are enough differences between them that you might find that you score higher on one than the other. I don't think the academy prefers one over the other. She maxed out the pushups but your question would be better answered if we knew you were male or female and how many you can do. Remember its not just push-ups.

Another reason to retake the exams is because the SA's will take your highest subscore in each section. For the SAT, you can end up with a much higher composite. And for the ACT, increasing your composite by just a point can make all the difference.

I applied to my MOCs early in the summer between Junior and Senior year.

My ACT composite was 34. I did not take the SAT.

Push-ups...er...not enough. I did 48 or 49 on my CFA (USAFA guy here)...need to go practice those now!

Anyone know what the average ACT composite was for last year's class?

Here are the USAFA numbers, published last year. (Each academy will differ slightly.)
For ACT: English-28, Reading-29, Math-30, and Science Reasoning-29.
For SAT: Verbal-630 and Math-652

My little sister is at the academy this year,

Congratulations to your sister.

Warning. The next time you see your "little" sister, she probably won't be so little anymore.

anyone know the numbers for the USMA?

I believe that quoated a 1285 for the verbal/math combined at the SUpe briefing on monday

Dylan Sav:

The class profiles are posted on the USMA.edu website and will give you a breakdown of the academic and other characteristics of the last several years.
Here's the link for the 2009 Class.
