Two Questions

Hello all!

So I applied regular decision to Cornell, and I just have some questions...

1) I was recently offered an interview by a Cornell alumnus. What does this mean for me? Is it good? bad? Will it help my application if I perform well? Does it mean my chances are good?

2) Does Cornell accept resumes sent via mail? I feel like I need to explain my extracurriculars (and a couple of other things) a bit more (some of them aren't the usual Math Club/ Science Club etc. etc.)

Thank you!

1) nothing. neither. not really. not really – there is no pre-sorting. They try to interview everyone.
2) yes. but probably not needed — they’ve seen them all before and the detail isn’t required.

When did you submit your application? When were you contacted for your alumni interview? and what region are you from?

I submitted my application on 1/9/14 @ 10:50 PM EST.
I was contacted yesterday for my interview.
I am in Texas.

Thank you for your responses!

Which school did you apply to? My sense is that a resume would receive more attention in the smaller programs. You should certainly bring it with you to the Alum interview as the interviewer may only know your name and contact info. It is not that the interviewer needs your resume, but that it will give both of you discussion points.

I applied to CALS for biological engineering. So should I send a resume? Will it look bad and will the ad coms be annoyed?

Thanks for the response and the advice! I’ll be sure to bring it with me.
