1: I'm trying to decide whether to partake in College Park Scholars. I got accepted into Media, Self and Society, but I'm not sure if I want to do it. I'm just afraid of getting stuck rooming with somebody completely not like me, and not enjoying the program (i wasn't thrilled with the program when i did the spring open house). Any reasons why I should certainly do it/not do it?

2: What's the easiest way to get from campus into Baltimore/to BWI airport?

gopats, if anything, the scholars program just makes the university a little smaller. I know personally, I'm kind of concerned that the people living with me are going to be nerdy, etc (I'm going to be in scholars this fall), but I know people both in honors and scholars who are nothing like that. Plus, you always have the option of not living within the program - the "living" part of the "living learning experience" isnt manadory.

From BWI you can either take the MARC train or the AMTRAK (Marc is a bit cheaper, but I think it only runs on weekdays) to New Carrolton station (about a 15 minute ride) and pick up the Metro from New Carrolton. College Park has a Metro stop. Nice and simple.

yeah, do scholars. I think you could basically 'drop' it by not doing the courses right? its not like you HAVE to take the classes and furthermore you don't have to room with other scholars kids. I would take it because if you are interesterd in media you will be paired with people who also are.

i was unsure about the scholars program myself because of the whole nerd possibility, etc. but i just visited campus a few weeks ago to meet with someone from scholars and visit friends there. the friends assured me scholars are normal kids and half of your floor will most likely not be scholars anyway. the scholars guy i met with also told me media self and society (my program) just finished writing a paper about family guy. i dont think theres anything to worry about in terms of bordom/nerdiness
