For those who happen to have the current PSAT review packet's test, could someone help me answer a few of these questions?

Section 3, 34 and 42 for reading.

Writing:

In his new book, Quest for Adventure, the (renowned) British mountaineer Chris Bonington examines the (past century's) most remarkable expeditions, (profiling) such explorers (including) Neil Armstrong and Thor Heyerdahl, and Maurice Herzog. (No error)

Now I know the answer is D (idiomatic error), but what is the correct idiom for that?

34: C. The narrator’s attitude is dismissive, because in the first line he is “not impressed by the congregation’s praise” even though his father is such an influential figure. Instead of being proud or ashamed of his father, he does not really think much of it. He is indifferent to his father’s status (and even privately embarrassed in line 13, but not to the point of chagrin.)

42: E. The author of passage 2 analyzes the grandmother figure, thoroughly describing her personality, attitudes and beliefs. On the other hand, the author of passage 1 simply calls Arbella’s grandmother a crotchety dragon and doesn’t go into any more detail. This general surface description of her grandmother is missing all the details of her true personality which is discussed in passage 2, so the description in passage 1 could be seen by author 2 as “overly simplistic.”
