Two Really weird emails from Cornell ><

<p>k guys I received two really qeird emails in the past three days, I really hope some of you could explain them for me...
so here's the first email, from a Undergrad Processing Center staff:
"Dear ****: We specify in our instructions to international early decision candidates that aid for international students is very limited, and therefore we make awards in the Spring after reviewing all candidates. We instruct international students who need aid not to apply early decision.
We cannot assist you with financial aid to attend Cornell. "
The last two sentences did not make sense. In the second last sentence, he used "instruct", instead of probably "suggest". And the last sentence seemed to clear up the ambiguity in the previous sentence, by outright denying me a financial aid..
I immediately sent an email asking him to clarify, but he hasn't replied yet. I am a Canadian permant resident, and according to internationalsupplement0607.pdf available on CU's admission site, I am ellgiable for a financial aid.
Then like a follow up on the first email.. another email is sent by Cornell Alumni Committee, and it contains this quotation:
"I have been notified that you have applied for regular decision to Cornell University."
My record on CommonApp says I sent Cornell Supplement under ED, and I really dont think I wrote I want a RA anywhere in my appplication.</p>

<p>I am gonna call them tomorrow.. but I just hope you guys could explain what's happening to me. Thanx!</p>

<p>The first email said that since you applied ED, that you were not going to get any financial aide. </p>

<p>The second email said that since you told them you wanted financial aid, they were changing you to a RD application.</p>

<p>what beprepn says is true. But it's also true that canadian permanent residents are eligible for aid.</p>

<p>Thanks guys for ur inputs, I found this quotation on the FAQ</p>

<p>"Q: Are Canadian and Mexican applicants eligible for financial aid though the Cornell financial aid office?</p>

<p>A: Yes. Canadian and Mexican citizens and permanent residents can apply though the Cornell financial aid office, and are considered for financial aid in the same way as U.S. citizens and permanent residents."</p>

<p>No idea why they thought I m not a Canadian Resident..</p>

<p>did you send a copy of your permanent resident card?</p>

<p>Yea I did. I called today and this mistake was corrected. They thought I am a Chinese citizen since I put "China" under "Nationality " in the CommonApp form, but what they meant was really where I m living.</p>
